"We always want the ao dai to become a national costume and, further, to be recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. To do that, we need an organization with enough stature to represent, connect and lead," the designer shared.
As for the designer himself, he has had a love and passion for the traditional ao dai throughout his 3-decade career. He and his colleagues have brought the ao dai to many countries such as the US, Japan, France, Korea, Malaysia, etc. and have also coordinated with embassies to organize many domestic events.
Designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam said that in the coming time, the association will have activities to help Vietnamese ao dai have a legitimate voice, be promoted more widely, and create opportunities to connect with domestic and international craft village, fashion , and handicraft associations.
During this term, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam will also work with members of the association to build a complete and standard Ao Dai archive so that the heritage will live forever with future generations.
"When everyone joins hands, I believe the ao dai will soon be recognized as a national costume and become a world cultural heritage," the designer said.
