Visitors visit and share about the works in the Minh Chuyen Post-War Art Museum.
Destination to learn about history
Minh Chuyen Post-War Art Museum is built on a poetic waterfront campus, with an area of 1,550m2 . In addition to the main exhibition building, the Museum also has a relief work "Truong Son Road" and "Ho Chi Minh Trail on the Sea". This is a regular meeting place for former youth volunteers, soldiers who once went through bombs and bullets, the blood and fire of war, and also a destination for students still wearing red scarves, and young readers who want to understand a historical period of their homeland and country... With storage space scientifically arranged by genre, the Museum preserves more than 600 literary and cinematic works. Of which, writer Minh Chuyen has edited and composed nearly 100 books with more than 300 works, including: short stories, novels, memoirs and more than 200 documentaries about the post-war period. Many works have won prestigious awards domestically and internationally.
To serve the needs of visitors to visit and learn, the Museum is open every day. Although nearly 80 years old, writer Minh Chuyen is still lucid, passionately welcoming visitors and telling stories revolving around the post-war theme, about the lives returning from the fires of war. The conversation is sometimes interrupted by handshakes and greetings from readers from far away. Many people expressed their emotions when meeting directly the author of famous memoirs and long-running documentary series broadcast on Vietnam Television.
Writer Minh Chuyen was born in 1947 in Tho Loc village. Like many young men growing up when the country was divided, he joined the army and fought for nearly 10 years in the Southeast battlefield. The country was reunited, he returned to his hometown and continued to pursue his dream of writing. During his days working at Thai Binh Newspaper, and later at Vietnam Television, he had the opportunity to travel everywhere to work and realized that in his heart he was always haunted by the comrades who had fallen in the midst of the fire of war.
He shared: Ever since I joined Thai Binh Newspaper, I have constantly thought and written about my comrades because during the war, I was the lucky one to survive, most of my comrades remained on the battlefield, many returned with injuries all over their bodies and were infected with Agent Orange. That was an extremely heroic sacrifice. For many years, the image of my comrades has urged me to write about post-war topics, about wounded soldiers and martyrs.
Revolutionary traditionaleducation
Returning from Hanoi, veteran Ha Ngoc Vui has been associated with the Minh Chuyen Post-War Works Museum for many years. He has personally brought many groups of visitors here to visit and introduce the works of writer Minh Chuyen. He shared: When coming to the Museum, most people already know works such as: "The Wanderer is Not Lonely", "Going to the Temple to Meet Again", "Procedures for Being a Living Person", "The Animal-Colored Child"... or famous documentaries such as "The Advisor" (5 episodes), "The Legend of the Ship Without a Number" (12 episodes), "War Memories Seen from Two Sides" (25 episodes), "The Historical Message" (52 episodes)... However, I always introduce to everyone the book series "Post-War Pain" which is solemnly displayed in the Museum space, and the next volumes are still being published. This is a very special work, not only the creation of writer Minh Chuyen but also includes pages written on the topic of post-war Vietnam by artists and writers at home and abroad, especially overseas Vietnamese in France, the US, Hungary... The book series will be a message to future generations to know that in order for the Vietnamese people to have a peaceful and developed life like today, there was a time when the Vietnamese people and Vietnamese soldiers had to shed blood and sacrifice.
Last May, at the Minh Chuyen Post-War Works Museum, a ceremony was held to receive the title of Labor Hero, receive the Asian Record Certificate for literary and artistic creation, congratulate the work "Father and Son Soldier" for winning the International Golden Cup award and congratulate the State Prize for Literature and Art of writer Minh Chuyen. The joys continued, the peaceful countryside space became more bustling. This is not only a destination for writers, literary friends, a meeting place for literature and art, but has also become a space that contributes to fostering patriotism and national pride for today's and future generations.
