Many beautiful but not bright roads

Some roads in An Duong ward have been completed but the project has not been finalized so the lighting system has not been put into operation.

The lighting is dim.

The My Tranh residential area road, An Duong ward (formerly belonging to Nam Son ward, An Duong district) has been invested in and renovated synchronously, including: lighting system, drainage, trees, etc. The completed road contributes to improving the appearance and landscape of the area as well as facilitating people's travel.

However, according to Mr. Le Van Thin, My Tranh residential group, the lighting system on this route only operated for a short time and then stopped working. Faced with this reality, at the meeting with voters of the three wards of An Duong, An Hai, and An Phong of the City People's Council delegates last July, representatives of My Tranh residential group proposed that the city direct the authorities to soon deploy lighting.

Not only My Tranh residential group, but also other residential groups have a situation where the lighting system only works for a short time during holidays and Tet and then stops working. According to households in Luong Quan residential group, An Duong ward, before the roads were invested in and renovated, people contributed funds to operate the lighting system. However, since the roads were completed, although the lighting system has been fully installed, it has rarely been used.

The early operation of the lighting system is also a request of many households in other areas in the ward. Ms. Dinh Thi Tam, from Trang Due residential group 5, reported that the 998-meter-long residential group road was completed a long time ago but until now there is no lighting.

In An Hai and An Phong wards, voters also expressed their opinions on the early commissioning or stable operation of the lighting system on some roads belonging to the model new rural construction project of the ward.

Speed up project settlement

In response to the people's feedback and recommendations on the lighting system for the new rural model roads in An Duong ward, Director of the An Duong Project Management Board Do Khac Hung said that along with investing in and expanding the roads, the new rural model construction program also invests in the lighting system. After completion, the street lighting system will be handed over to the locality and the operation of this system will be under the responsibility of the local government.

However, currently, because the project to renovate model new rural roads in some localities has not completed the final settlement and handover, the lighting system cannot be operated, mainly concentrated in localities implementing in the period of 2024 - 2025, such as: An Hung, Dai Ban, Nam Son, Le Loi, An Dong...

To overcome this situation, the unit is focusing on finalizing the project completion in An Hung, Hong Thai and completing the handover procedures to the local authorities. At the same time, it continues to accelerate the progress of the remaining routes in Nam Son and An Dong wards; coordinate with construction and supervision units to complete the acceptance records of project items; finalize the completed projects for handover to the local authorities.

Before implementing the 2-level local government model, the above proposal was previously considered and resolved by the People's Committee of An Duong District. Specifically, the People's Committee of the district issued Decision No. 1665/QD-UBND dated May 6, 2025 on selecting a contractor for lighting services for model new rural roads in new rural communes in the district in 2025 to operate the lighting system. It is expected that in the third quarter of 2025, the final settlement of costs and organization of lighting operations for roads in residential areas will be completed, contributing to ensuring traffic safety and creating favorable conditions for people's lives.

Implementing the program to build a model new rural commune, phase 2021-2025, An Duong district (formerly) invested in upgrading, renovating and expanding 118 traffic routes with a length of 101.67 km and 139.93 km of lighting lines. The investment in model new rural works brings a spacious, civilized and modern appearance and is excited and supported by the people. During the implementation process, households highly agreed by donating land and voluntarily dismantling the works. Therefore, in order to soon operate the lighting system, the An Duong area Project Management Board continues to accelerate the final settlement of the project for handover; immediately after receiving the handover, localities need to immediately deploy the operation of the lighting system.
