Major General Dang Quoc Bao was born on May 1, 1927, in Xuan Hong commune, Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province. Academic title: Associate Professor.

Due to old age and poor health, Major General Dang Quoc Bao passed away at 9:02 a.m. on September 15 (August 13, Giap Thin year), at the age of 97.

Information from the family said the funeral for Major General Dang Quoc Bao will be at 7:00 a.m. on September 18 at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi .

Memorial service and funeral at 8:30 a.m. on September 18. Burial at Lac Hong Vien cemetery ( Hoa Binh ).

Major General Dang Quoc Bao was a member of the 4th Party Central Committee, head of the 4th Party Central Committee's Science and Education Commission (now the Central Propaganda Commission), and first secretary of the 4th Central Youth Union (1978 - 1982).

He joined the revolution in May 1945 and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam that year. In February 1947, he joined the army and was assigned to the Military Political School, head of the Political Department of Regiment 140.

During his military service, he held many different positions such as battalion political commissar, then political commissar of Regiment 88, political commissar of Vanguard Army Group F308, chief of the General Political Department office, political commissar of Division 308, political commissar of Engineering Department - General Staff, political commissar of Division 330, and political commissar of Northwestern Military Region.

He then became secretary of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, political commissar and principal of the Military Technical University (now the Military Technical Academy). In 1974, he was promoted to the rank of major general.

In September 1976, Major General Dang Quoc Bao transferred to the civil service. He held the positions of Deputy Minister of Universities and Vocational Secondary Education, First Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Deputy Head and then Head of the Central Science and Education Department.

Major General Dang Quoc Bao has been awarded many medals by the Party and State such as: First-class Independence Medal, Military Exploit Medal (first, second, third class), First-class Resistance Medal and many other medals.

TT - On the morning of August 1, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department held a ceremony to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the Propaganda Department's Traditional Day (August 1, 1930 - August 1, 2008) and to present the Ho Chi Minh Medal to comrade Dang Quoc Bao, former head of the Central Science and Education Department (now the Central Propaganda Department), and to present the Labor Medal to comrades who were former leaders of the Central Propaganda Department at all levels through the periods. On behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Nguyen Minh Triet attended and presented the Ho Chi Minh Medal to comrade Dang Quoc Bao.
