Reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper talked with Ms. Huong Phan, sister of artist Thao Nguyen, she said that on the evening of June 28, after performing from Long An to Ho Chi Minh City, artist Thao Nguyen said she was tired, her family took her to People's Hospital 115 for emergency treatment, suspecting she had a stroke. And after a period of treatment, on the morning of July 2, she passed away, at the age of 57.

Traditional opera artist Thao Nguyen (real name Nguyen Thi Kim Thao) has been associated with the Minh To troupe since her youth. The role that audiences remember her for is Khau Thua Ngu in the play "Bich Van Cung Ky An".

According to experts, besides the brilliance of female artist Tai Linh in the role of Ly Than Phi (play "Bich Van Cung Ky An"), the audience has shown much affection for the second female role, which is the role of palace maid Khau Thua Ngu performed by artist Thao Nguyen.

When she joined Doan Minh To, Thao Nguyen was taught the craft by People's Artist Thanh Tong, who guided her step by step in practicing her singing and acting skills. The audience at that time had a lot of affection for the young actress, because although she did not have the required physical appearance, artist Thao Nguyen made up for it with a clear singing voice and a mature acting style.

Before joining Minh To troupe, in 1987, artist Thao Nguyen performed for Saigon 1 troupe in the play "Need a love" and several other plays such as: "The brocade shop at the village entrance", "The hair of a young wife"...

Later, when collaborating with Minh To troupe, artist Thao Nguyen also performed in plays such as: "I do not become a queen", "Throne and crime", "After the execution"... performed with artists Vu Linh, Tai Linh, Kim Tu Long...

In 1992, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Huong invited artists Thao Nguyen and Linh Chau to perform for the Huong Mua Thu troupe.

The passing of artist Thao Nguyen left much grief for the audience of reformed theater and friends and colleagues.
