Does taking fish oil every day increase blood cholesterol?

Fish oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. It is one of the most popular dietary supplements. In fact, taking fish oil every day may have some effect on blood cholesterol levels.

Fish oil is extracted from the tissues of fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, and tuna. This supplement offers a wide range of health benefits, from reducing inflammation to improving eye, brain, skin, and hair health.

The specific effects of fish oil on blood lipids, especially cholesterol, are still under investigation. Fish oil contains two main types of omega-3 fatty acids: EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid).

Studies show that omega-3s have the potential to improve heart health by positively affecting blood lipid levels, including triglycerides, “bad” LDL cholesterol, and “good” HDL cholesterol.

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), fish oil supplements often significantly reduce blood triglyceride levels. Triglycerides are neutral fats. High triglyceride levels are often associated with other cardiovascular and metabolic problems.

The effects of fish oil on LDL and HDL cholesterol are somewhat more complicated. Some studies have shown that fish oil may slightly increase LDL cholesterol, which is considered “bad” cholesterol because it can contribute to plaque buildup in the arteries.

Interestingly, however, studies have found that while levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol may increase when taking fish oil, the LDL cholesterol particles become smaller. This means that LDL cholesterol is less likely to cause harm. At the same time, fish oil also slightly increases levels of HDL cholesterol, the type of cholesterol that is good for the heart. Decoding the secret: Why is coffee shop 'better' than coffee at home?

To enjoy a cup of morning coffee, some people have the habit of making it at home, but many people prefer to sip their morning coffee at a cafe.

Here, experts explain why many people prefer sipping coffee at a cafe rather than at home.

Coffee flavor is a perception, but this can be influenced by internal and external factors, explains Dr. Gail Saltz, associate professor of clinical psychiatry at Weill-Cornell Medical School at New York Presbyterian Hospital (USA).

While it technically doesn't taste that special if someone else makes it for you (unless their brewing technique is actually better than yours), it feels great to have someone do something for you, explains Aaron Brinen, PhD, an associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr Brinen says the act of having someone else make your coffee can cause your brain to release “happy hormones” like serotonin – which makes you feel good about sipping your coffee. He points out that this can affect your perception of taste.

Dr. Brinen said he has experienced this, saying: "Even if I have made a cup of coffee for myself, if my wife makes me another cup, I still find it to be more delicious than the coffee I make." The next content of this article will be on the health page on June 7 .

Black sesame seeds are a rich source of protein, lipids, minerals and black pigment. These seeds are rich in carbohydrates, vitamin E and secondary metabolites such as lignans, saponins and flavonoids, all of which improve cardiovascular health, regulate metabolism and support cell function.

Two tablespoons of black sesame seeds contain about 3-4 grams of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, both of which are healthy fats. Black sesame seeds are also rich in protein, fiber, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, zinc, and iron.

They are high in phenolic compounds and essential nutrients, including calcium, iron, and magnesium. Black sesame seeds are rich in vitamins B1, B6, and E, as well as lignans, which have antioxidant properties that help reduce oxidative stress.
