Convergence, solidarity and growth in the new era

Within the framework of Quang Ninh Press Festival, the seminar "Quang Ninh journalists learn and follow Ho Chi Minh's journalism style in the new era" has a very special meaning, not only to review the invaluable legacies that beloved Uncle Ho left for Vietnam's revolutionary journalism, but also to reflect those values on the practical activities of Quang Ninh's journalism in the context of the turbulent digital era.

Comrade Nguyen The Lam, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Provincial Media Center, affirmed: President Ho Chi Minh was an outstanding revolutionary journalist who laid the foundation and led the development of the country's press. His journalistic style, with core qualities such as revolutionary character, fighting spirit, truthfulness, objectivity, mass character and profound humanity, still retains its value today, serving as a guideline for all generations of Vietnamese journalists.

Journalists contributed many enthusiastic opinions during the discussion.

With the theme " Quang Ninh journalists learn and follow Ho Chi Minh's journalism style in the new era", the seminar received many enthusiastic, responsible and profound opinions from representatives of press agencies, senior journalists and experts. In particular, it focused on discussing and deepening key issues on the everlasting value of Ho Chi Minh's journalism style in the current context; the creative application of those principles in diverse journalism activities of Quang Ninh province and local party press agencies. At the same time, it raised the challenges and opportunities for journalists in the digital era when learning and following Uncle Ho; practical experience of press agencies and valuable lessons from colleagues. From there, it provided orientations and solutions for Quang Ninh journalism to develop sustainably, better meet the information needs of society and contribute to the overall development of the province.

Reporter Do Viet Hung, News Department, Quang Ninh Provincial Media Center, shared: This is a meaningful discussion. A young reporter like me has the opportunity to exchange, discuss and share my thoughts and concerns with veteran journalists on how to follow Uncle Ho in my professional and daily work. And in the process of learning about President Ho Chi Minh's career and journalism style, I have drawn many lessons for myself, from which I can reflect, strive and perfect my journalistic works.

Journalists and reporters were excited and enjoyed every moment together with team building games.

Along with the discussion program, the Journalists Association also organized a team building program, gathering all journalists, reporters, editors, and workers in the press agencies of the Provincial Media Center and some permanent units. Here, everyone participated in games to connect solidarity and team spirit, share joy, and relieve stress after stressful working days.

Reporter Bui Duc Hieu, Vietnam News Agency's permanent office in Quang Ninh, said: Journalists often meet each other when working but do not have much time to chat or share. But participating in the team building program, everyone is enthusiastic, the teams are united, playing their best like a family. This is also an opportunity for everyone to express themselves and their strengths, thereby connecting and understanding each other more. I hope that in the future, the Journalists Association will have more meaningful programs for journalists to gather and exchange more.

Spreading the values of journalism

The Exhibition of 100 years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism, History of Quang Ninh Journalism and Outstanding Achievements of the Province (abbreviated as the Exhibition) is a "meeting place" for journalists to review memories and history of journalism, as well as an opportunity to inspire the young generation of journalists.

The artifacts are newspapers and articles recording important historical events of the country, which have been carefully preserved and stored. In addition, there are also radio and television broadcasting equipment prepared by the Provincial Media Center, which have accompanied the milestones of formation and development of Quang Ninh province, such as: Microphones that honored to record Uncle Ho's voice on the occasions when he visited Quang Ninh; camera to take pictures of Lieutenant An-ve-ret, the first American pilot captured alive by the army and people of Quang Ninh in the first battle on August 5, 1964; loudspeakers of the former Soviet Union equipped for Hon Gai town in 1972...

Journalist Vu Dieu was moved when he met the camera that had accompanied him throughout his journeys reporting on the war in Quang Ninh province and the Northeast region. He shared: I recorded all historical moments with this camera. At that time, having a camera was extremely valuable, a "treasure" that I always kept carefully. It was like a friend, a historical witness accompanying me in the moments close to life and death. When I looked back at this camera, I felt like I had met an old friend for a long time and could not hide my emotions and choking, the memories of my time as a journalist appeared extremely vividly.

Each document and artifact is telling the people, tourists and the public about the story of journalists, the flow of history, and the constant development. These are precious documents affirming a century of fighting, associated with each stage of construction and development, advancing with the nation. The priceless assets displayed at this exhibition once again affirm that journalists are soldiers on the ideological front. Mr. Nguyen Quy Binh, a tourist from Hai Phong City, shared: This is the first time I have visited a large-scale and historically valuable press exhibition like this. The exhibition not only helps me understand more about the formation and development of Vietnam's revolutionary press, but also arouses national pride in each historical period. The documents, images, and artifacts are displayed very vividly, arranged scientifically , and are easy to access. I am impressed with the old newspaper pages that still retain the ink and yellowed paper - like a living witness to history. This is truly a meaningful activity, especially for the young generation and those who love history.

Not only recreating the historical flow of Quang Ninh press in particular, and Vietnamese press in general, elaborately, professionally and modernly, the exhibition has inspired many young generations, aroused love for journalism, and urged the responsibility of each citizen. Therefore, besides the people and tourists, the exhibition also attracted many groups of students to come to learn, study and experience.

In addition to valuable documents, vivid images and artifacts associated with the development stages of Quang Ninh press, the exhibition also focuses on designing a scientific, methodical and attractive display space with the following spaces: 100 years of Vietnam's revolutionary press; history of Quang Ninh press; outstanding achievements of Quang Ninh province; virtual reality studio area. In particular, the Quang Ninh Press History area is divided into the periods 1928-1955, 1956-1985; 1986-2018 and from 2019 to present. Each period of the press is associated with the socio-economic development process of Quang Ninh and the country, while keeping up with international press trends.

Many locals and tourists had the opportunity to try being a reporter to host a live program, experiencing all the emotions of excitement and joy when interacting with virtual reality graphics. Ms. Nguyen Thuy An, a tourist from Thai Binh province, said: I was very lucky to have the chance to attend the Exhibition in Quang Ninh. Being "on camera" directly made me very excited but also very nervous. Now I understand the feelings of the editors and admire the courage of the program hosts even more. Not only that, I also got to learn the process of making modern news, which was a truly memorable experience.

After 10 days, the exhibition attracted about 4,000 people and tourists. The exhibition not only created an attractive destination for people and tourists, but more importantly, it also fueled the next generations, educating patriotism and national pride.
