On November 29-30, at the People's Committee of Phuoc Loc Ward (La Gi Town) and Thanh Hai Border Guard Station, the Border Guard Command of Binh Thuan Province coordinated with the Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Corporation to organize propaganda to ensure security and safety for offshore oil and gas projects for nearly 500 fishermen of La Gi Town and Phan Thiet City.
At the propaganda sessions, 500 fishermen who are captains and owners of offshore fishing vessels from 14 coastal communes and wards in the two localities of La Gi and Phan Thiet were informed and introduced about the role and importance of the oil and gas industry for the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country and the protection of national sovereignty at sea; the responsibilities of agencies, units and people in ensuring oil and gas security and safety; legal regulations and forms of handling for acts of intentionally violating the safety corridor of offshore oil and gas works to exploit seafood.
Images of the location and coordinates of oil and gas fields in the sea of Binh Thuan and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces; images of fishing boats of Binh Thuan fishermen violating the safety corridor of oil and gas works to exploit and catch fish; serious accidents that have occurred due to violations by fishermen to exploit seafood... Attending the propaganda, captains and vehicle owners were also given leaflets printed with details of the location and coordinates of oil and gas works at sea by the Organizing Committee; propaganda documents on the system of oil and gas works; legal regulations on the safety zone of oil and gas works at sea; actions considered violations and dangerous incidents that may occur...
The propaganda sessions provided information, helping fishermen to be aware of the dangers to themselves and the accidents that can occur when violating the safety corridor of oil and gas projects to exploit seafood; raising awareness and responsibility in participating in protecting and fighting, denouncing, and preventing when detecting violations in ensuring safety for oil and gas projects at sea.
On this occasion, the Organizing Committee awarded 20 scholarships, including 20 bicycles, to 20 poor but studious students in the coastal border area of Phan Thiet city and La Gi town.
