Improving the capacity of managers in smart urban construction

The leaders of the Academy of Construction and Urban Management said that after 3 years, the Project "Establishing the Vietnam - Korea Cooperation Center on Smart Cities and Construction Technology" - VKC Project, has achieved many positive results, with 20 training courses on smart cities nationwide, contributing to improving the capacity of sustainable smart urban development management for some localities and connecting technology solutions suitable to the reality of urban development in Vietnam.

Along with that, pilot implementation of smart urban planning/master plan for urban areas jointly selected by both parties (An Van Duong A and B Urban Areas - Hue City); 3D database for An Van Duong A and B Urban Areas - Hue City. The project has approached planning solutions associated with smart technology and piloted integration into the approved zoning plan in this urban area.

The results of the VKC Project have brought practical and effective contributions to Vietnam in general and the Ministry of Construction in particular in implementing Project 950 "Development of sustainable smart cities in Vietnam in the period of 2018 - 2025 and orientation to 2030". The VKC Project has promoted research and training on smart cities and advanced construction technology to contribute to the development of smart cities in Vietnam; gradually concretizing Vietnam's policies and guidelines in promoting the development of smart and sustainable cities by 2030.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh - Director of the Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Construction emphasized that in the context of international integration, the Party and Government of Vietnam have been proactive in building orientations for sustainable smart urban development, building green urban areas, responding to climate change, applying information technology to modernize the country, reforming administration towards building a digital government, participating in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Developing sustainable smart cities is one of the important driving forces to realize the goal of turning Vietnam into a modern, high-income industrialized country by 2045.

Based on the achieved results, the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport are actively proposing to the two Governments to implement the VKC Project Phase 2. The Ministry of Construction hopes to continue receiving support from the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to enhance the development of sustainable smart cities in Vietnam.
