Young man cuts off his own 'genitals'

On March 12, Mr. Phan Xuan Tuyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Hoa commune, Tuyen Hoa district ( Quang Binh province) said that the victim was Mr. THS (born in 1998, residing in Tan Son village, Son Hoa commune).

Three days ago, THS cut off his penis. His family took him to Tuyen Hoa District General Hospital for emergency treatment.

According to family, the patient has a history of mental and psychological problems.

According to the hospital's assessment, Mr. S. suffered a severed urethra, blood vessels, and a completely severed pubic vein. After first aid, the patient was transferred to the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi for treatment.

“These are rare and complicated cases, so the hospital only provides initial emergency treatment using pain relievers, temporary sutures, and hemostasis for the patient. After that, the hospital completes procedures for the patient to be transferred to a higher level for treatment,” said a representative of Tuyen Hoa District General Hospital.

In early May 2023, a similar incident occurred in Dak Nong province. The patient was Mr. D.VT (43 years old, residing in Cu Jut district, Dak Nong province). His family brought him to the hospital in a state of having his entire penis and testicles severed at the base, with a lot of blood loss. The severed penis was kept in ice and taken away.

Immediately after receiving the patient, the surgical team stitched the penis and severed blood vessels.
