Not only receiving a scholarship, before the new school year, Bui Hoang Gia Linh, a student of class 11B10, Le Hong Phong High School (Long Binh ward) was also happy to receive a new ao dai from the Ao dai for children to school program of the Provincial Women's Union.
Share difficulties, add motivation
Gia Linh said: I am the eldest child in a family of 3 sisters. My father works as a motorbike taxi driver, with an irregular income, and my mother works as a factory worker, with a stable but not high income. Gia Linh and her 3 sisters are still in school age, so their parents' income is only enough to cover their daily life at a frugal level. To prepare Gia Linh and her sisters to have clothes, textbooks, backpacks and full school supplies for the new school year, my father had to work hard as a motorbike taxi driver, and my mother had to save up and prepare several months in advance.
Gia Linh was planning to wear the old ao dai she had made in 10th grade this year to reduce the pressure on her parents when she heard that the Provincial Women's Union was launching the Ao Dai Program for Children to Go to School. Knowing her family's situation, Gia Linh was not only given an ao dai but also proposed to be given a Nguyen Thi Dinh scholarship (worth 1 million VND).
"The money is enough for me to buy books, notebooks and personal school supplies, helping my parents ease their worries at the beginning of the new school year" - Gia Linh confided.
In addition to the 50% tuition reduction scholarship, recently, Ms. Tran Thi Anh Thu, a 3rd year student at the Faculty of Oriental Studies (Lac Hong University) also received a "Vung Tuong Lai" scholarship (worth 5 million VND) awarded by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association.
According to Anh Thu, her parents are factory workers with limited income, so since entering university, she has set a goal of "hunting" for scholarships to reduce the financial burden on her parents. Therefore, she always strives to achieve good academic results, participates in competitions and movements organized by the Youth Union and Student Association of the school. In particular, in addition to the scholarship programs of the school, the Youth Union and the Association, she also proactively seeks information about scholarship programs to apply for selection.
For orphaned students, scholarships at the beginning of the school year are a great source of encouragement, helping them confidently enter the new school year.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan (maternal grandmother of Nguyen Ngoc Minh An, a student in class 1/1, Nguyen An Ninh Primary School, Tam Hiep Ward) said: When Minh An was over 2 years old, the Covid-19 epidemic broke out strongly, Minh An's father went to work "3 on-site" and got infected, then passed away. Without his father, Minh An grew up in the love of his mother, grandparents and the care of society. Recently, Minh An was one of 209 students orphaned by Covid-19 to receive financial support from Long Thanh Golf Investment and Business Joint Stock Company.
Create opportunities for students to adapt to the new learning environment
In addition to gifts of books, backpacks, school supplies, bicycles, and scholarships, the Youth Union at all levels also organizes many activities to create opportunities for students to get acquainted with the new learning environment.
Ms. Truong Le Bao Trinh, Secretary of the Lac Hong University Youth Union, said: To kick off the new school year activities for new students, the Youth Union and the Lac Hong University Student Association have coordinated to organize many extracurricular trips for new students to the Tran Bien Temple of Literature (Tran Bien Ward). Participating in this program, new students were able to visit and learn about the relic; offer incense to commemorate the merits of President Ho Chi Minh and the ancestors who are being worshiped at the Tran Bien Temple of Literature. At the same time, new students also participated in exciting team building games.
For new students from other provinces and cities, this activity is an opportunity to better understand Dong Nai ; to exchange, connect and quickly adapt to the living and studying environment at university level.
Pham Minh Nhut, a new student of the Faculty of Electromechanics and Electronics (Lac Hong University) shared: Coming from Ca Mau province to Dong Nai to study, I was confused at first. However, thanks to the care and guidance of teachers, especially participating in activities organized by the Youth Union and the School Association, I had many opportunities to interact and get to know many new friends, helping me gradually get used to student life away from home.
In addition to the activities organized by the Youth Union and Student Associations of the schools, the Provincial Youth Union and Student Association of Dong Nai province also have plans to organize activities to Welcome the new school year - Welcome new students for students of high schools, vocational education centers - continuing education and students of universities and colleges in the province.
In particular, the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Student Association will organize a talk show on Job trends in the digital age, digital skills and soft skills needed for students; organize a Green Connection Journey with collective activities; a Music Night program around the dormitory with the theme Dorm - Music Tour. The highlight will be the New School Year Welcome Festival - Welcome new students taking place in 3 clusters with activities such as: honoring the titles of 3 Good Students, 3 Practiced Students, Outstanding Young Teachers, awarding scholarships to School, career orientation forums, experiential game booths... Thereby, creating a healthy, useful playground and opportunities for exchange, learning, sharing learning experiences, and participating in movements among students.
