MU want Sesko. |
According to the Telegraph , the 22-year-old is a top target for manager Ruben Amorim as he attempts to rebuild his attack after a disappointing 2024/25 season with just 44 Premier League goals.
MU is said to have contacted Leipzig but has not yet made an official offer. The German club value Sesko at a minimum of 80 million euros (69 million pounds). If the deal is successful, Sesko will become the second most expensive striker in Man Utd's history, only behind Romelu Lukaku (84.7 million euros).
Previously, MU had contacted Ollie Watkins but Aston Villa refused to sell the English player. In addition, the age and high transfer fee prevented MU's leadership from promoting the deal.
Newcastle are Man United's big competitors in this deal, especially when they are also in need of a striker to replace Alexander Isak, who has expressed his intention to leave.
Sesko made great strides last season in the Bundesliga. Although RB Leipzig only finished 7th, Sesko still showed great potential with his 1.95m height, outstanding speed and strength. However, his weakness lies in his lack of consistency, something that coach Amorim will have to address if he wants Sesko to become the leader of MU's attack.
Recruitment director Christopher Vivell, who has worked at Salzburg and Leipzig, was the one who pushed for the deal as he understood the Slovenian striker's potential.
