Eating mushrooms every day can nearly halve the risk of many types of cancer

Recent studies have shown that certain edible mushrooms can fight cancer cells.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (USA) said: Extracts of reishi mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms (also known as shiitake mushrooms) have now been approved by Japan and China for cancer treatment, because they are rich in vitamin D, which is good for the immune system.

In particular, Dr. Lori Shemek mentioned the 2021 assessment study, conducted by experts at Pennsylvania State University (USA).

This review, which included 19 studies, with nearly 20,000 participants, found that eating 18 grams of mushrooms per day could reduce the risk of all types of cancer by 45%.

Among them, the 5 most promising mushrooms are: Shiitake, Reishi, Ganoderma, White button and Maitake mushrooms. According to the US National Cancer Institute, these are also the 5 mushrooms commonly used to treat cancer in Asia, according to the New York Post.

Shiitake mushrooms (also known as shiitake mushrooms) are very good for health.

Experts say the vitamins and antioxidants found in the five mushrooms above can help fight cancer by reducing the harmful effects of free radicals that damage DNA and cells.

These include vitamins B, D, selenium and niacin, as well as two lesser-known compounds, ergothioneine and lentinan, powerful antioxidants that help protect cells.

A 2011 Japanese study, which included 225 participants, also found that taking reishi mushroom extract may reduce the risk of colon cancer.

Results showed that people with colon polyps, after 1 year of taking reishi mushroom extract, had fewer polyps than those who did not.

In particular, the polysaccharide K (PSK) compound found in the reishi mushroom has been shown by Japanese scientists to help the body increase the amount of cancer-fighting proteins. An analysis of 20 studies showed that this substance, when used in conjunction with surgery or chemotherapy, helped reduce the recurrence of stomach, colorectal, and lung cancers compared to conventional treatment alone.

Another study has also found that eating mushrooms reduces the risk of prostate cancer and breast cancer, according to the New York Post.
