One of the highlights is the Project "Application of scientific and technical advances to build a closed-loop hybrid cattle breeding farm model ensuring biosafety" implemented in Cho Don and Ba Be districts, chaired by the Institute of Animal Husbandry from June 2023 to June 2026.

The project built 02 livestock models in Dong Lac commune (Cho Don) and Ha Hieu commune (Ba Be). Through the implementation process, households all recorded positive results. Mr. Dong Phuc Chien in Ban Trang village, Dong Lac commune shared: Crossbred cows grow well, calves are healthy, grow faster than local cows. In particular, the model combining the production of worm biomass and worm manure from livestock waste not only helps to treat the environment effectively, but also creates a source of safe organic fertilizer for crops.
Other households such as Mr. Dong Phuc Huyen's family (Dong Lac commune) or Mr. Hoang Van Luat's family (Ha Hieu commune) also highly appreciate the effectiveness of the closed livestock farming model and supporting techniques in production.
The project includes many contents such as: Building a closed livestock model to ensure biosafety, training and technology transfer, compiling documents, organizing propaganda workshops and evaluating acceptance. According to MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Luong, Project Manager, participating people are supported with 30% of breeding cows, materials and insemination. This is a model circular model, which is the basis for replication in local production practices.
During the implementation process, households were also trained in disease prevention and treatment techniques for cattle, instructions on growing and processing animal feed, and utilizing agricultural by-products and livestock waste to produce worm biomass and worm manure. Up to now, the cattle herds in participating households have developed steadily, with calves born from artificial insemination reaching 08-09 per household, exceeding the target set for the entire period.
According to Mr. Hoang Van Thien, Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, up to now, the Project is being implemented on schedule, ensuring quality. From the achieved results, the specialized sector will propose to expand the model to increase the local herd of cows, promote the application of science and technology in livestock farming in a modern, biosafety direction and in line with the orientation of sustainable development, supporting the livelihoods of people in the highlands./.
