The Vietnamese women's football team officially won tickets to the 2026 Asian Cup finals after defeating the Guam women's team 4-0, the Maldives 7-0 and the UAE 6-0.
After 3 matches, the team got 9 points, scored 17 goals and did not concede any, ranked first in the group and won the only ticket to continue.
In the letter, AFC wrote: “Congratulations to the Vietnam women's national team for winning first place in Group E in the qualifying round and officially qualifying for the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup. The team's determination was clearly demonstrated throughout the tournament.”
In addition to recognizing the team's professional achievements, AFC also expressed its respect and appreciation for the organization of the VFF and the local Organizing Committee.
“We would like to thank the VFF and the local organising committee for successfully organising the Group E qualifiers from June 29 to July 5, 2025 in Viet Tri, Vietnam,” the AFC said.
AFC emphasized: “The dedication, tireless efforts and professionalism in organizing and running the tournament by VFF and the local Organizing Committee are commendable.
We would also like to thank the Organizing Committee for the thoughtful and hospitable reception given to the AFC delegation and participating teams throughout the competition."
In closing the letter, AFC sent its best wishes to the Vietnamese women's team and expressed its expectation of welcoming the team to the finals in March 2026.
Thus, the Vietnamese women's team officially participated in the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup Finals - the tournament which is also the second qualifying round of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
In the remainder of 2025, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will compete in two other important arenas: the Southeast Asian Championship and the 33rd SEA Games.
