Dinh Bac - Xuan Bac both scored, U.23 Vietnam defeated U.23 Philippines
In the first semi-final match of the U.23 Southeast Asian tournament, Dinh Bac scored, with a diving header after his previous shot bounced off the post, helping the U.23 Vietnam team tie the score 1-1 in the 41st minute, after unexpectedly letting the U.23 Philippines open the score in the 36th minute.
But this was the match where coach Kim Sang-sik's players attacked better, with 4 shots hitting the goal. Then in the 54th minute, Xuan Bac headed in a goal from Phi Hoang's cross, sealing a 2-1 victory for the U.23 Vietnam team.
This victory helped coach Kim Sang-sik and his team secure the first ticket to the final match of the U.23 Southeast Asian tournament, for the third consecutive time. The U.23 Vietnam team will have the opportunity to make history with the third consecutive championship!

At this point, the Vietnam U.23 team is leading with 2 championships of the Southeast Asian U.23 tournament (2022, 2023) compared to only 1 of Thailand U.23 (2005) or Indonesia U.23 (2019). If we have another victory, we will widen the gap with the remaining teams in the highest tournament in the Southeast Asian youth football system.
Notably, we are the only team in Southeast Asia to have achieved a 100% winning rate in the finals of the U.23 Southeast Asian tournaments, when we defeated U.23 Thailand and U.23 Indonesia in the finals in Cambodia in 2022 and Thailand in 2023.
Meanwhile, Thailand has reached the finals 3 times but only enjoyed victory once 20 years ago, then lost twice to the U.23 Vietnam team and U.23 Indonesia in 2019 and 2022.

The U.23 Indonesia team was the most recent defeat of the U.23 Vietnam team in the tense final match in 2023, with a score of 5-6 in the 11m penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw in regular time.
With Dinh Bac, Van Khang and Cong Phuong being withdrawn early in the second half, the U.23 Vietnam team is ready for the final match of the U.23 Southeast Asian Championship at 8:00 p.m. on July 29 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, with the opponent being the winner of the match between U.23 Thailand and U.23 Indonesia.
