During the exam, the majority of candidates complied with the exam regulations, only 1 candidate violated the exam regulations and was suspended from the exam.
During the exam days, the city will set up 19 teams to inspect the exam. Immediately after the exam ends, the exam marking council will cut the test papers, mark the exams, and announce the exam scores on time.
Exam with many new points
Regarding the exam questions, Mr. Pham Quoc Toan, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that this year is the first year that candidates will take the exam according to the new program with many adjustments and innovations included in the exam questions. Since the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program, the work of testing, evaluation, and especially the creation of exam questions has been identified as an important task, with the nature of guidingeducational institutions to teach scientifically, on target, and effectively implement the new program.

“After 3 exams, we assessed that the exams closely followed the industry's regulations on exam structure and format, ensuring the goal of developing capacity, having good classification, creating peace of mind and trust for teachers and students when implementing the new program,” said Mr. Toan.
Literature questions are constructed in an open format, using materials outside of textbooks, with close content, citing reputable sources and eliminating model essay orientation.
The foreign language questions are practical, have good differentiation, stimulate students' language abilities and are in line with new formats according to the orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training .
In particular, this morning's Math exam did not contain any content that puzzled students. The exam had many new points aimed at assessing reasoning, mathematical problem solving, and was highly practical.

As a teacher and reviewer for 9th grade students in Literature, Ms. Lam Kieu Ninh, a Literature teacher at Dong Da Secondary School, shared that this is the subject that makes many teachers and candidates most nervous among the 3 exam subjects because for the first time, the materials in the textbook are not used. However, this year's exam not only made teachers breathe a sigh of relief but also made candidates happy and excited.
"The new Literature exam questions are close and practical, ensuring both scientific and educational values, and deserve a lot of praise," said Ms. Kieu Ninh.
There is no such thing as "loose dot, tight dot"
The press reporter raised the question, whether the open Literature exam has "loose or tight marking", marking based on emotions will not ensure the rights of candidates.
Ms. Nguyen Nguyet Nga, a Literature teacher at Viet Duc High School, said that before grading the exam, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training had three scoring rem with detailed instructions for each question. Parents do not have to worry about "high or low grading" because there are specific measurement indicators, in each sentence, each idea, what level of knowledge the student has achieved, how many points will be awarded.
“Even for a social essay about the joy of studying, good and excellent students will have better writing and expression than their average peers, and those papers will have higher scores. In the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi, students can pass or fail with a 0.25 point difference, so teachers grade very carefully,” said Ms. Nga.

Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, shared that the process of preparing for the exam with a large number of candidates, nearly 103,000 students, was very stressful for those who took the exam. Some people were in the exam council when their father passed away and could not return.
However, with the serious and careful working spirit of the staff and teachers, up to this point it can be affirmed that the exam took place safely, and the forces coordinated to create favorable conditions for candidates and parents.
During the exam, 12 candidates needed medical assistance. One candidate had just had an appendectomy the day before, but still insisted on taking the exam the next day. In this case, the Steering Committee was very confused, but the family wanted and committed to let the candidate take the exam. Luckily, the candidate was able to take all 3 subjects. After finishing the Math exam, a car and doctor took the candidate straight to the hospital.
"For essay subjects, teachers, with their responsibility, will grade the test fairly and objectively, without loose or tight grading. After finishing grading, we will select a number of papers to re-grade, grade probability, and cross-grade to ensure fairness for the candidates," said Mr. Tran The Cuong.
