Exhibition space of typical and traditional artifacts of the Stieng ethnic group at Dong Nai Museum ( Binh Phuoc ward). |
Located next to Suoi Cam Lake, amidst a cool green space, peaceful and airy lake, Dong Nai Museum is one of the indispensable stops for visitors to the province.
Preserve and display many artifacts
With meticulous calculations in the arrangement, layout of space and display of artifacts, Dong Nai Museum helps visitors have an overall view of the cultural characteristics of ethnic groups in the area. The traditional artifacts typical of each ethnic group are designed in separate spaces, but have similarities, showing the common in the individual and the harmony, cultural exchange between ethnic groups.
Mr. Nguyen Son Ha, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Museum, shared: As indigenous people, in the past, the Stieng ethnic group lived mainly in remote and border areas, their main job was to go to the forest and work on the fields. Therefore, their food, clothing, and production tools relied mainly on nature and were created from their production, daily life, and activities. This has created a unique quality in the traditional culture of the Stieng ethnic group. Backpacks, machetes, bows and crossbows, crossbows, jars, colorful brocades, etc., are all made from natural materials, durable over time. Up to now, many valuable artifacts of the Stieng ethnic group have been collected and preserved at the museum, serving visitors.
In order to preserve, transmit and promote the cultural values of the Stieng ethnic group, the work of searching, collecting and preserving is carried out regularly, continuously, synchronously and comprehensively by Dong Nai Museum. At Dong Nai Museum, nearly 120 artifacts including hunting and fishing tools, daily life and production utensils, musical instruments, etc. of the Stieng ethnic group are being preserved, conserved and displayed according to each theme and topic, convenient for visitors" - Deputy Director of Dong Nai Museum NGUYEN SON HA said.
A traditional education place for the younger generation
Impressive and well-known not only by the richness and diversity of more than 14 thousand documents and artifacts, but also by the scientific and creative display, design, and arrangement, combining images with artifacts, colors, sounds, and lights, leading visitors along an emotional, attractive, and easy-to-understand path. Each artifact is scientifically arranged and spread through digital technology applications, helping visitors understand more deeply, quickly, and more about the cultural characteristics of ethnic groups.
Ms. Phan Thi Thu Ha (living in Binh Phuoc ward) shared: At the museum, each artifact is no longer simply an artifact, not boring and dry as many people think. Each artifact here is a cultural story told through images, shapes, and blocks. Through the artifacts, visitors have a comprehensive view of the life, cultural space, and production labor of the Stieng ethnic group.
In the flow of integration, up to now, the life of the S'tieng ethnic group has changed a lot from before. Technology, science and technology have developed, causing many cultural characteristics and traditional crafts of ethnic groups, including the S'tieng people, to gradually fade away. Searching, collecting, preserving and maintaining the traditional cultural characteristics of ethnic groups in the area is an objective necessity. Because the museum is not simply a stop for visitors, it is also a slow-motion film, a place where time stands still, connecting the past and the present, a real school, a place to educate traditions and origins for the next generation.
