The first AI competition on national television

The AI Practical Competition aims to search, discover, and nurture technology talents with a first prize of up to 1 billion VND.

AI in Action, launched on the afternoon of August 5, is the first competition on Artificial Intelligence held on national television. The competition has the participation of young contestants, mostly students, with the goal of searching, discovering, and nurturing technology talents, developing Vietnamese AI core technology, promoting the AI ecosystem, and contributing to the implementation of national digital transformation goals.

The contest format was developed by Vietnamese AI technology experts. The contest platform is a special technology product that has been registered by the organizers for Trademark Protection and Intellectual Property Protection in Vietnam and the US, contributing to increasing transparency and absolute fairness for contestants.

The competition will go through 4 rounds, first is the Preliminary round broadcast on September 27, followed by the Final round, Semi-final and Final round broadcast live on January 10, 2026. In which, the champion of the competition will receive 1 billion VND in cash. Second prize will receive 300 million VND, 2 third prizes will receive 100 million VND in cash each. In addition, the Organizing Committee will also award a number of additional prizes such as the weekly prize, Excellent Data Application, Potential AI Startup, etc.

According to the organizers, the biggest challenge of the competition is to design a contest structure that is entertaining enough for the majority of the audience to enjoy, while solving the AI problem of finding real talent and solutions. That is not an easy problem for the organizers.

“Over the past few years, we have researched and learned about many game shows, but no program has really met those criteria. With AI Practice, the program format is completely designed by the Organizing Committee and is copyrighted. The competition is divided into many rounds and we also try to make each round have a different competitive nature so that both the contestants and viewers feel excited when receiving the results,” said the Organizing Committee representative.

At the announcement ceremony, Major Dao Duc Trieu - General Secretary of the National Data Association added: "Contestants not only compete in technology skills but also directly solve problems from businesses and social reality, receive advice from AI technology experts and have the opportunity to develop their products through international standard startup incubation programs".

The contest takes place in the context of the Party and State identifying "Developing science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation as the top important breakthrough" in the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo .
