Lai Chau: Strengthening direction for local agricultural development

On August 22, Lai Chau province held an online meeting to implement resolutions, policies, and projects on agricultural development for the 2021-2025 period. Many solutions to promote agricultural development were proposed, emphasizing the need to strengthen market connections and e-commerce platforms to increase the value of agricultural products.

Accordingly, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the implementation of resolutions, policies and projects on agricultural development in the province has achieved many positive results, contributing to promoting the transformation of production structure, increasing value and income for people.

After 4 years of implementing Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU dated February 22, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on the development of concentrated commodity agriculture for the period 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030, many targets have exceeded the set targets. Notably: Concentrated commodity rice production, bee colony development, fruit tree planting, new orchid planting... thereby gradually changing the mindset of small-scale production to commodity production associated with the chain of linkage and product consumption.

Discussing at the meeting, delegates focused on pointing out difficulties, limitations and sharing good practices in implementing Resolutions, policies and projects on agricultural development for the period 2021 - 2025.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Ha Trong Hai, Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee, summarized some of the achievements in the agricultural sector in recent times. At the same time, he assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with communes to review tea planting targets, promptly and flexibly adjust accordingly; promptly control, prevent and suppress epidemics, in which promoting propaganda work so that people and organizations strictly implement, and have sanctions to strictly handle violations, to avoid spreading the epidemic.

Along with that, the Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to soon develop a plan to organize the autumn-winter crop in communes with favorable conditions; direct the care of crops and livestock, propagate people to comply with technical processes, strengthen inspection, maintain specialty, endemic products, OCOP products. Request the Department of Finance to accelerate the implementation of agricultural projects; strengthen management, use of budget, bidding process. The Department of Industry and Trade takes the lead in coordinating with specialized departments to strengthen connections to find markets, e-commerce platforms to increase the value of products.

At the same time, step up the review and decentralization of the agricultural sector to communes so that communes can proactively organize implementation. Step up inspection and support for communes in the process of performing tasks.
