Dr. Ho Ngoc Anh Vu, Head of the My Duc Reproductive Support Unit (IVF My Duc), together with Master Pham Hoang Huy, embryologist at the My Duc Phu Nhuan Reproductive Support Unit (IVF My Duc Phu Nhuan) had an important business trip to China to transfer the technique of in vitro fertilization without ovarian stimulation, also known as My Duc-style IVM.

This event not only opened an important milestone in the medical cooperation relationship between the two countries, but also affirmed that the professional capacity, research and development capabilities of infertility treatment techniques in Vietnam are increasingly recognized and appreciated internationally.
Dr. Ho Ngoc Anh Vu is one of the experts who directly developed and standardized the improved IVM protocol at My Duc Hospital. This is an in vitro fertilization technique that does not stimulate the ovaries and does not require hormone medication, helping to minimize risks, costs and psychological burdens for patients.
Dr. Vu is also a member of the research team that published a study comparing endometrial preparation regimens in the world's leading medical journal The Lancet in June 2024. This is a study that is highly appreciated by the international medical community.
The effectiveness, humanity and potential for wide application of the American-German IVM protocol have made a strong impression on Chinese IVF experts and are the main reasons why Jinxin Fertility chose this technology from Vietnam in the context that China is the country with the largest IVF treatment scale in the world, with about 1 million IVF cycles per year, accounting for nearly 1/3 of the world.
During their time working in Chengdu, two Vietnamese experts conducted a comprehensive transfer of American-German IVM techniques, from theory to practice, from clinical operations to data management.
The transfer contents include: in-depth training for the team of doctors and embryologists of Jinxin Xinan IVF Hospital; direct participation in clinical treatment for the first patients in China using the American-German IVM protocol; Building technical processes including standardizing operations, ensuring the quality of eggs and embryos; and guiding the establishment of a data collection and management system for research and long-term quality control.
The transfer results are considered an initial success, creating a solid foundation for Chinese colleagues to continue to independently deploy this technique in the near future.
American-German IVM technology is known as a revolution in infertility treatment, offering many advantages over the classic IVF method.
Instead of having to inject multiple hormone shots to stimulate the ovaries, patients treated with IVM do not need to take ovulation-stimulating drugs, thereby minimizing the risk of complications, especially ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
This technique also significantly reduces treatment costs, shortens time, reduces the number of follow-up visits and is especially suitable for high-risk patient groups or those who desire gentle, non-hormonal treatment.
Since its implementation in Vietnam in 2006, by 2016, more than 610 children had been born thanks to IVM. In the same year, My Duc Hospital marked a major breakthrough when it successfully developed an improved IVM protocol with a two-step culture process, resulting in a superior egg maturation rate, embryo quality, and treatment success rate compared to previous IVM methods.
Not stopping at domestic treatment, IVF My Duc has become a center for IVM technical training for the international medical community. Since 2018, the training program “ASPIRE MasterClass, State of the ART in IVM” has been held in Vietnam, attracting hundreds of students from more than 12 countries.
Many international experts from the United States, Canada, France, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Peru, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, etc. have come to My Duc Hospital to study, exchange experiences and learn about Vietnam's new IVM technique.
At the same time, My Duc IVF experts are also continuously invited to attend and report at major medical conferences such as ASRM, ESHRE, ASPIRE, ISIVF, PSRM...
The working trip of Dr. Ho Ngoc Anh Vu and Master Pham Hoang Huy not only affirmed Vietnam's professional capacity in the field of assisted reproduction, but also opened a new direction for the country's medicine in high-tech medical cooperation, knowledge transfer and international integration.
More importantly, this is a step forward affirming that, with increasingly high levels of expertise and a spirit of innovation, Vietnamese reproductive medicine is fully capable of reaching international standards, contributing to shaping the development trend of the reproductive support industry in the future.
