Strengthening the National Marine Spatial Planning Appraisal Council

On September 11, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision 1037/QD-TTg to strengthen the National Marine Spatial Planning Appraisal Council for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045 (the Council).

Accordingly, the Council is responsible for advising and assisting the Government and the Prime Minister in performing assigned tasks and powers according to the provisions of the law on planning related to the appraisal of the National Marine Spatial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the sea and islands sector is the Chairman of the Council. The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh is the Vice Chairman of the Council. The Council members include leaders of ministries, some People's Committees of coastal provinces and centrally-run cities, and experts on planning, sea and islands. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is the standing body of the Appraisal Council.

The Council's activities are carried out in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 37/2019/ND-CP dated May 7, 2019 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Planning.

The Standing Body of the Council shall comply with the provisions of Article 34 of Decree No. 37/2019/ND-CP dated May 7, 2019 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Planning.
