Groundbreaking ceremony of Dung Quat – Sa Huynh Coastal Road Project Phase IIb

Provincial leaders perform the ceremony of pressing the button to start the project

Attending the ceremony were Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Cao Phuc; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Sam; Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Ho Ngoc Thinh; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders and people of localities where the project passes through.

The Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project, phase IIb (section Km76+230 - Km82+000) has a total length of 5.77km, starting at the intersection of district road DH37 in Mo Cay commune, passing through Lan Phong commune and ending at the field of Tra Cau ward. The route is designed according to the level III plain standards, the roadbed is 12m wide, the road surface is 11m wide, the structure is made of two layers of asphalt concrete. The total investment capital is more than 98 billion VND from the central and provincial budgets, expected to be completed in the period of 2025 - 2026. The project is invested by the Quang Ngai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.

Mr. Tran Hoang Vinh - Director of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Traffic Works of Quang Ngai province reported on the project.

This project belongs to the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh Coastal Road Project with a total length of 109km, located in the planning of Vietnam's coastal roads. The project has a total capital of about 5,600 billion VND, divided into 2 phases. To date, phase I, which is more than 30km long, has been completed and put into use with a cost of nearly 1,500 billion VND. Phase II, which is nearly 70km long, from the south of Co Luy bridge to Sa Huynh, is being implemented in the period 2018 - 2025.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Sam emphasized that the groundbreaking of the nearly 6km-long route today is an important step, linked to the completed Phase I and the ongoing Phase II. The project has gradually completed 56.34/109km in Quang Ngai province, creating momentum for the early completion of the entire route.

The project not only contributes to completing strategic infrastructure, opening up new development space for the province, but also connects economic zones, industrial parks, urban areas and coastal services. The route is of special importance as it connects Dung Quat Economic Zone - the country's leading industrial, energy and petrochemical center - with Sa Huynh tourist area with rich cultural, historical and marine tourism potential. In addition, Dung Quat - Sa Huynh Coastal Road is also the North - South traffic axis in the East, contributing to reducing pressure on National Highway 1, while ensuring national defense - security, maintaining the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

This is a project of profound political significance, affirming the province's determination in investing in strategic infrastructure, successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Government's Socio-Economic Development Plan for the period 2021 - 2025, and is a practical mark to welcome the 1st Congress of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

Many vehicles and equipment were mobilized by the contractor to carry out the project.

In order for the project to soon achieve its goals and requirements, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, and local authorities where the project passes through to continue to accompany, remove difficulties, and create all favorable conditions for the investor to implement the project. At the same time, he hoped that the people in the project area would continue to support and join hands with the government, especially in the work of handing over the site so that the investor can carry out the construction smoothly. The investor and contractors need to promote the highest sense of responsibility, focus on human resources, equipment, work overtime, speed up the construction progress, ensure quality, efficiency, strictly comply with regulations on labor safety and environmental protection.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested that departments and branches continue to advise competent authorities to mobilize maximum resources and seek support from the Central Government, determined to complete the remaining 43.65km of the Project.
