The 2024-2025 school year is considered a bridge for an entire period of innovation. This is the year when the 2018 General Education Program completes its implementation cycle across all grades; the Law on Teachers is passed by the National Assembly, officially establishing the full legal status, rights and responsibilities of teachers nationwide.
This is also the year the whole industry resolutely "declared war" on rampant extra teaching and learning with Circular No. 29/2024/TT-BGDDT.
The results of universal education continued to be consolidated; Vietnamese students' achievements in the international arena reached new heights; digital transformation initially recorded clear results. The high school graduation exam, with many innovations, took place safely and successfully, even in the special context of merging and restructuring local governments.
At the same time, this school year witnessed outstanding efforts in improving the quality of staff, investing in facilities, contributing to building a solid foundation for the next steps.
Besides the advantages and achievements, there are still gaps and challenges. As Minister Nguyen Kim Son commented, the challenge today is no longer poverty, but the challenge of development - how to surpass oneself, worthy of the growing expectations of society.
With that spirit, the entire industry enters the 2025-2026 school year with the theme “Discipline - Creativity - Breakthrough - Development”. These four keywords are not just slogans, but a requirement for action to fulfill a heavy but glorious responsibility.
The new school year takes place in a special context, when for the first time the education sector is managed according to a two-level local model, while simultaneously implementing the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress and a series of breakthrough policies: the Resolution of the Politburo on education and training development; four key laws on education; two Resolutions of the National Assembly on tuition exemption and support for preschool children and students and universalizing preschool education for children aged 3-5.
Institutions and resources are only truly meaningful when they are effectively used in practice. Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that this must be the “year of implementation” – acting responsibly to turn policies into results, and expectations into reality. This requires the participation of not only the education sector but also the entire political system and society.
Education is “planting a tree for a hundred years”. If we don’t sow today, there will never be a green forest tomorrow. The new school year, with all its opportunities and challenges, is the season for sowing new seeds.
The challenges of development still exist, but they are also a test of the desire to break through, of the courage of the "seed sowers" in the journey to build a new generation of Vietnamese people - patriotic, proud of the nation, with enough courage, intelligence, capacity, qualifications and health to meet the requirements of national development and protection of the Fatherland in the new period.
