On the evening of August 22, the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association held the 2025 Fine Arts Awards ceremony and opened a silk painting exhibition at the association's headquarters.
This is one of the activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2.
Honoring silk paintings
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association Nguyen Xuan Tien said the Fine Arts Award is given annually to encourage the spirit of artistic creativity of artists, and at the same time honor outstanding works using materials in the field of fine arts.
This year, the Fine Arts Award honors silk paintings - a traditional material of the painting industry. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tien shared that in recent years, silk has been of interest and love to many artists, especially young artists.
The organizers said that this year, 116 authors sent 163 silk paintings to the fine art exhibition. The art council has 114 paintings by 89 authors for the exhibition.
In which, the organizing committee chose to award 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 2 third prizes and 3 consolation prizes.
The silk painting " Em" by author Le Thi Que Huong won first prize. The second prize was awarded to author Tran Lu Thanh Thanh with the painting "Young Bamboo" .
The two third prizes went to author Vu Tran Anh Nguyen with the painting Twilight and author Le Thi Anh Yen with the painting Ninety .
Three consolation prizes were awarded to author Huynh Thi Kim Tien with the painting Fisherman's Happiness , author Pham Long Thuy Truc with the painting Gentle Echo , and author Nguyen Dang Khoat with the painting Southern Impression .
Total prize value is 120 million VND, of which first prize is 35 million VND.

Artists who love silk paintings reunite
Most of the authors who won high prizes are young people who are students or have just graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts.
Author Tran Lu Thanh Thanh is currently a student at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts. She won second prize with the painting Young .
“At school, I saw my friends taking a cute nap. When I got home, I saw my children sleeping so cutely, so I drew children sleeping peacefully. I painted the picture “Young Bamboo” in about 2 months and didn’t think I would win any prizes,” Thanh Thanh told Tuoi Tre Online .

The painting Ninety by author Le Thi Anh Yen (graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts in 2022) depicts a portrait of an elderly person at the Dieu Phap Pagoda charity home (Ho Chi Minh City).
Mr. Yen shared with Tuoi Tre Online : "I like drawing portraits because it brings a lot of emotions, each wrinkle is a story. I am working on the series Tuoi tan chieu".
"The themes of the silk paintings in this exhibition are diverse, from landscapes, homeland scenery to love. All evoke contemplation in artistic creation, towards truth, goodness, and beauty" - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association Nguyen Xuan Tien commented.
In addition to the authors in Ho Chi Minh City, the organizing committee also received many paintings from authors from Quang Ninh, Gia Lai, Can Tho , Dong Nai, Vinh Long... creating diversity for the exhibition.
