Duong Minh Chau District Farmers' Association: Patriotic emulation associated with sustainable rural development

Implementing President Ho Chi Minh's teaching "Emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation", in the period of 2020-2025, the Farmers' Association at all levels in Duong Minh Chau district has promoted the implementation of patriotic emulation movements in all aspects of association work and farmers' movements, creating motivation for farmers in the district to actively participate in production and business, attracting a large number of cadres, members and farmers to actively respond, creating a strong driving force in local socio -economic development, actively contributing to building sustainable rural development.

According to Mr. Trinh The Giao - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Duong Minh Chau district, in order for the patriotic emulation movement to truly come into life, the Associations at all levels in the district have proactively developed plans, organized launches and signed annual emulation covenants.

The emulation content has been innovated in a practical direction, close to the reality of farmers' lives, focusing on major movements such as: Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably; farmers compete in building new rural areas; farmers participate in ensuring national defense and security...

In particular, the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business" stands out, attracting over 75% of member households to register to participate each year, with over 50% of households achieving titles at all levels. As of early 2025, the whole district had 5,959 households achieving the title of good farmers in production and business, including 466 households at the district level and 70 households at the provincial level.

The movement not only helps farmers increase their income but also creates a vibrant competitive atmosphere in the countryside, with many typical examples such as Mr. Pham Van Toai, Mr. Ta Van Minh (Phuoc Minh commune), Mr. Tong Thanh Duc (Truong Mit commune) ... each year bringing in billions of dong in income.

Mr. Pham Van Toai is successful with the model of raising soft-shell turtles and snakehead fish, bringing in billions of dong in income per year.

Along with encouraging legitimate enrichment, the Association at all levels also focuses on promoting the tradition of mutual love. In the period 2020-2025, more than 27 poor households in the district were supported to escape poverty through many forms of assistance such as: lending land, supporting plants and seeds, production capital, labor days... In addition, the movement also created jobs on the spot for more than 4,500 rural workers.

Farmers in Duong Minh Chau district actively change crops, bringing stable income.

The new rural construction movement continues to be effectively promoted by the District Farmers' Association. Over the past 5 years, members and farmers in the district have contributed more than 16,000 m² of land; 1,126 working days and more than 6.6 billion VND to join the locality in upgrading and hardening a series of traffic routes, dredging canals, planting flowers along the roads, installing lighting systems, contributing to the completion of rural infrastructure.

Duong Minh Chau District Farmers' Association cooperates with the government to mobilize the construction of houses for poor households.

Not only taking care of economic development, the District Farmers’ Association is also the core force in the movement to protect the environment and maintain national defense and security. Every year, the Association at all levels coordinates to organize a series of activities in response to World Environment Day, National Week of Clean Water and Environmental Sanitation; collect waste, pesticide packaging, plant trees, maintain the model of “Farmers protecting the environment” in many communes.

Mr. Ta Van Minh is a good farmer and businessman for many years in Duong Minh Chau district.

In the field of national defense and security, the Association at all levels has effectively coordinated with the Police and Military Commands of communes to propagate the law, mobilize people to raise vigilance, and participate in the movement "All people protect national security".

The district currently maintains 14 “Zalo groups for crime prevention and control” with 233 members, posting 494 crime warnings. The association also built and operated 11 self-managed farmer models for security and order with 111 members. Over the past 5 years, members have provided valuable information to help authorities promptly prevent complicated incidents, maintain political security and social order and safety.

Phuoc Ninh Commune Farmers' Association participates in the model of planting trees to protect the environment.

In addition, the Association also coordinates to mobilize farmers' children to perform military service, participate in military rear-area activities, and take care of families with meritorious services. Each year, the total amount of money mobilized from various sources for gratitude activities reaches over 100 million VND.

With persistent and creative efforts, the patriotic emulation movement of the Duong Minh Chau District Farmers' Association has achieved many outstanding results, recognized and commended by all levels. In 5 years, 1 collective was awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the President, 1 individual received the Third Class Labor Medal, 2 individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the Prime Minister; the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association awarded certificates of merit to 6 collectives, 13 individuals and the "For the Vietnamese Farmer Class" Medal to 16 individuals; the Provincial People's Committee awarded 4 emulation flags and certificates of merit to 10 collectives and 41 individuals; the Provincial Farmers' Association awarded 17 collectives and 35 individuals with outstanding achievements.

These results are vivid evidence of the spirit of patriotic emulation associated with the practical life of farmers - a solid foundation for the Farmers' Association of Duong Minh Chau district to continue to affirm its role as a typical political and social organization in the cause of developing agriculture, farmers and rural areas of the locality.
