In a recent conversation with the Vietnamese press, coach Kim Sang-sik said he was very sad and homesick when having to work away from his family for a long time.

Before finishing my mission with the Vietnamese team, there was a very long period of time when I could not see my family. I felt very sad, homesick and a bit hurt. However, I also have many Korean friends here. We gather and eat out quite often, so the homesickness is somewhat reduced, ” Coach Kim Sang-sik confided.

The strategist born in 1976 confided that he tried to overcome homesickness to focus on leading the Vietnam national team: “For me, family is like a body. I am the parts of the body and family is always in my mind. However, as the head coach of the Vietnam national team, being away from home to work is inevitable. Therefore, I just keep my homesickness in my heart and focus on working to contribute to Vietnamese football.”

Coach Kim Sang-sik also shared his plan to celebrate his first Tet in Vietnam. He revealed that he will bring his family to Vietnam and travel to Nha Trang: “My family and I plan to travel to Nha Trang. I have celebrated Tet in Korea many times, so I want to experience the Tet culture in Vietnam with my family. In particular, I feel very happy to have achieved such success and to have brought my family here.”

Also in a conversation with Vietnamese media, Coach Kim Sang-sik sent an emotional message to his wife and daughter: “ My beloved wife, my beloved daughter, I love you all very much. I hope we can meet soon in Nha Trang and have a great trip to Vietnam. We will have time together, eat delicious Vietnamese food and have fun. Thank you and the children for always trusting me. I love my whole family.”

The coach of the Vietnam national team sent his New Year wishes to the fans: “I would like to thank the fans for encouraging and cheering for the Vietnam team throughout the past time. We will continue to try to create joy for the fans. I wish the Vietnamese people good health and success in the new year 2025.”

“With this championship, I will not be complacent and stop here. The players and I will aim for higher goals in 2025. We have new goals such as the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games. The coaching staff and I will try to find the best people, and the players will also try our best to achieve those goals,” the 49-year-old coach emphasized.
