In the press conference before the semi-final, coach Kim Sang Sik said: “The U23 Philippines is a very strong team with a defensive counter-attacking style of play. Their strikers Otu Banatao and Javier Mariona are very dangerous. Therefore, the defenders of the U23 Vietnam team must be vigilant against these strikers.”

“I think U23 Philippines is as strong as the other teams in the semi-finals, including U23 Indonesia, Thailand and U23 Vietnam. The chances of the four teams in the semi-finals are equal,” added coach Kim Sang Sik.

Although highly appreciating his opponent, the Korean coach is still confident in the ability of U23 Vietnam to win. Coach Kim Sang Sik's team participates in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament with the goal of defending the championship. We will not easily give up on the above goal.

Mr. Kim Sang Sik shared: “We entered the semi-finals with two wins in the group stage. These victories came from the efforts of the players and every member of the U23 Vietnam team.”

“In the semi-final match against U23 Philippines, we will try our best to win. We will prepare well for the upcoming match and give our all on the field,” Coach Kim Sang Sik affirmed.

A matter of concern for U23 Vietnam before tomorrow's semi-final match is the injury of central defender Pham Ly Duc. This player scored a goal in U23 Vietnam's 2-1 victory over Cambodia on July 22. He did not appear on the U23 Vietnam training ground during the training session last night (July 23), but was allowed to rest at the hotel by coach Kim Sang Sik.

Coach Kim Sang Sik revealed the condition of central defender Pham Ly Duc: "He injured his ankle while warming up before the match with U23 Cambodia two days ago. Ly Duc is on the way to recovery."

“I will continue to monitor his condition. However, I do not dare to confirm whether Ly Duc will play in the semi-final or not,” said the Korean coach who is leading the Vietnam U23 team.

The semi-final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Philippines will take place at 4pm tomorrow. Then, at 8pm, U23 Indonesia will face U23 Thailand in the other semi-final match. Both semi-final matches will take place at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, in Jakarta (Indonesia).
