Principal of Duong Van An Secondary and High School, Hoang Minh Hoa, said that the school is located next to National Highway 1 in Cam Hong commune, so the traffic volume is high, posing a high risk of traffic accidents. Therefore, ensuring traffic safety for students during school hours is a top concern for authorities, local authorities and the school.
Accordingly, the school has organized propaganda, education on knowledge and skills of safe traffic participation for staff, teachers and students; organized the signing of commitments to comply with traffic safety laws for parents and students, absolutely not giving motorbikes to children to drive when they are not old enough, do not have a driver's license to drive vehicles in traffic; launched competitions to learn about traffic safety laws; established a "Traffic Safety Youth Volunteer Team"... Notably, the school has assigned the School Youth Union to coordinate in implementing the model of "Traffic Safety School Gate" to put it into practice.

“In the 2024-2025 school year, the school has a total of 1,021 students in 26 classes, of which 100% of staff, teachers, employees and parents signed a commitment to comply with traffic safety regulations according to the law and school regulations; no staff, teachers, employees or students had traffic accidents. The model has been classified as good by the Le Thuy District Police (old)…”, Secretary of the Youth Union of Duong Van An Secondary and High School Pham Thi My Nhung said.
At Nam Ly Primary School No. 1 (Dong Hoi Ward) in the past, during rush hours at the beginning and end of school, most vehicles had difficulty moving through here, causing traffic jams. The reason was that this road was relatively narrow, had no sidewalk, and the two schools were located close together, while vehicles of parents going to pick up their children were parked everywhere on the road. Since October 2024, the school's Board of Directors has coordinated to build the "Traffic Safety School Gate" model, so the above situation has significantly reduced.
Ms. Nguyen Hoai Phuong, a parent of a student, shared: “The implementation of the “Traffic Safety School Gate” model of Nam Ly Primary School No. 1 has received consensus and support from parents. The situation of disorder and traffic congestion during rush hour at the school gate no longer exists; awareness and responsibility in implementing traffic safety regulations among teachers, students and parents have also been improved.”
In fact, the model of "Traffic Safety School Gate" at many schools in communes and wards in the province has created positive changes in awareness, consciousness, responsibility and habit of obeying traffic safety laws of cadres, teachers, parents, students and people of all walks of life. At school gates, billboards, posters and traffic signs are arranged in appropriate locations, positively affecting the visual perception of parents and students. Schools organize extracurricular activities on security and traffic safety and coordinate with functional agencies to propagate and guide students on measures to ensure safety when participating in traffic. Thereby, overcoming traffic congestion, limiting collisions and traffic accidents at school gates before and after school hours... contributing to reducing accidents involving students. Head of the Department of Traffic Infrastructure Management, Department of Construction Bui Duc Thanh said that in the coming time, functional units will continue to proactively coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to implement the "Traffic Safety Peak Month for Students Going to School", ensuring safety for students in the first days of the new school year 2025-2026; focusing on patrolling, controlling, and strictly handling the situation of students driving motorbikes, electric motorbikes, and electric bicycles in violation of the Traffic Safety Law. In particular, along with solutions to ensure traffic safety around school gates, the "Traffic Safety School Gate" model at many schools in the area will be maintained and replicated to create changes in awareness and skills for students. Thereby, minimizing traffic accidents involving students in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister in Directive No. 31/CT-TTg, dated December 21, 2023 on strengthening work and ensuring traffic safety for students in the new situation.
