In Thailand on the evening of July 25, the Vietnamese men’s sepak takraw team caused a big surprise when they defeated the home team – the opponent who defeated us in the final match last year. Under the guidance of coach Hoang Duc Luong, the players played with high spirit, winning 15-12 in the first game.
In the second set, the match became more tense as Thailand took the initiative to attack with tricky serves and sharp coordination. However, the Vietnamese players kept their composure, chasing each point and finishing accurately at the key moment to win 17-15. The final score of 2-0 helped the Vietnamese men's sepak takraw team to achieve one of the rare victories against Thailand at the world level.
Immediately after that, the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team continued to bring good news when they defeated the Korean women's sepak takraw team 2-0 in the semi-finals. The match took place quickly with the superiority of coach Tran Thi Vui and her team. With stable performance, the Vietnamese women's team is aiming for the highest goal in the final match.
Thus, the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team aims to defend the championship title for the third consecutive time. Meanwhile, the men's team stands before a historic opportunity to win their first title if they overcome Malaysia in the final match.
The 2025 Sepak Takraw World Championship will take place in Thailand from July 28 to July 28, with competitions including regu, doubles, team, hoop and mixed team of 4 men and women. The Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team won 2 bronze medals in the hoop event for both men and women.
