Hanoi: Nearly 1,000 trees broken and fallen after a major storm

On July 20, the Hanoi Department of Construction reported damage to trees in the area after a strong thunderstorm and heavy rain that lasted from the afternoon of July 19 to the evening of the same day.

According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, statistics from functional units and localities show that, as of the morning of July 20, the whole city had 941 fallen trees and broken branches. Of which, the inner city area and main axes such as Thang Long Avenue, Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Thong Nhat Park... recorded 771 broken and fallen trees. According to administrative boundaries, the damage was concentrated in Long Bien ward with 120 fallen trees, Ha Dong ward with 81 trees... Other areas recorded a smaller number of broken and fallen trees.

Immediately after the storm, from the evening of July 19, the authorities started to clear and trim broken and fallen trees to ensure the safety of people and traffic safety. As of the morning of July 20, most of the broken and fallen trees on the inner-city roads have been cleared to ensure traffic safety, with only a few small roads still having branches and leaves on the sidewalks. The authorities are expected to complete the clearing and treatment of broken and fallen trees in the inner city today and complete the work on the roads far from the center tomorrow, July 21.
