Keeping the fire of women's solidarity at the grassroots level

BDK - In just a few days, the commune-level administrative units in the province will officially merge - marking a major turning point in the process of streamlining the administrative apparatus. But for the Women's Union (WU), especially the commune-level union officials, this is not only a change in boundaries, but also a moment filled with memories, of transition and of a new beginning.

The Provincial Women's Union expresses gratitude and shares with district and commune-level union officials before the administrative area merger.

Memories of the festival seasons

It is often said that the Women's Union cadres are the ones who are most closely connected to the daily lives of women, children and families. That is true. Many women have been attached to the commune not only by their term of office, but also by their youth. Before the merger, the words shared by the women, who have spent a long time working for the union, contained many unnamed feelings.

Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Binh Dai Town, Ngo Nguyen Thanh Ngan, said: “For me, 12 years of being associated with the association is a journey full of memories, concerns and love. From the first days as vice chairwoman to 3 years as chairwoman, I have grown up with each movement, each step of the ladies, aunts and sisters. Now, when that journey ends, I have so many mixed emotions of sadness, nostalgia but also pride for having lived, contributed and grown up with the association. Wherever I am, in any position, I will always keep my love for the association's work, the place that gave me both youth and ideals to live to the fullest!”

As for Phan Huynh Thoai Tran, President of the Women's Union of Tien Thuy town, Chau Thanh district, the decision to leave the role of the union after 14 years of association was not easy: "I worked for the union from the position of vice president, then president. Now, I am not moving to a new position but resigning to start another job. I wish you all good health, success in your new work and always cherish your time working for the union."

Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Thoi Thanh Commune, Thanh Phu District, Tran Thi Mong Thuy, shared: "After 15 years of working for the union, now I have to say goodbye and move to a new position. I can't help but wonder: will I be able to keep up with the pace? What will my new colleagues be like? But what I am sure of is that I will always remember the affection that the union leaders, aunts, and sisters have given me. Thanks to the union's work, I have grown up."

Transition - Starting in the new system

This is a busy phase of administrative work: handing over documents, assets, models, projects, revolving savings funds, membership lists, etc. The work seems to be purely procedural, but behind it is an effort to "transfer without interruption", to continue completing unfinished work, so that movements can continue to be maintained and implemented.

Many union officials could not hide their emotions when they personally handed over each dedicated model - from the core women's group, the "Godmother" model, "Exchanging trash for trees", to the savings groups, supporting poor members... The women entrusted not only documents, but also a sense of responsibility, an operating routine acquired after many years of care. Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Mo Cay Bac district, Nguyen Thi Be Hong, said: "The handover is not only an administrative task, but also the handing over of a blood vessel so that the flow of the union does not stop, even if the area changes".

When one door closes, another journey begins.

On the other hand, the association officials who took over the new area also faced many challenges. The area was larger, the number of members was larger and more diverse, the initial cohesion was still loose... But in that difficulty, the qualities of resilience, patience, and ingenuity of the association officials were more clearly demonstrated.

In this transitional period, the organization must play the role of a support and a keeper of solidarity for women at the grassroots level. That is the responsibility of those who remain and also the legacy that those who came before.

“We are going through an unprecedented transition period. But I believe that even if each union official changes position, organization, or location, their heart for women and the movement remains unchanged. The Women's Union is where we have grown up, dedicated ourselves, and become attached. And it is from this place that we will continue to do our best in a new, broader, and further journey, but not alone.”
