“Every drop of blood given, a life remains”. That saying is no longer a slogan, but has become the motto of many Thai Nguyen people in recent years. The voluntary blood donation movement has developed widely, receiving the response of all classes, from students, workers to officers and soldiers of the armed forces. In that journey, there are people who deserve to be mentioned, because they are spreading the flame of love through silent but meaningful actions.

Vu Manh Tuong, a 24-year-old man, Vice President of the Red Cross Youth Association (Thai Nguyen Provincial Red Cross Association) is one of those people. Having directly donated blood 16 times, more than 500 people have been mobilized by Tuong to participate in this meaningful movement. Not stopping at numbers, what is valuable about Tuong is his perseverance, responsibility, and spreading the spirit of volunteerism through his own experiences.

Currently, the province has 9 blood donation teams from universities and colleges with more than 2,000 volunteers regularly participating, many of whom are inspired by people like him.

Not only young people, the movement also recognizes families who have been attached to blood donation as a "family tradition". For example, the family of Mr. Bui Van Dong, Head of the Farmers' Association of Cau Go hamlet, Bao Ly commune (Phu Binh) has donated blood a total of 20 times, of which he donated 9 times, his wife donated 4 times and his daughter donated 7 times. Mr. Dong shared simply: "I am healthy, giving a little blood to save people is also a blessing for the family". For him, donating blood is not only an action, but also a beautiful lifestyle that needs to be nurtured every day.

Or the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hang, Ba Hang ward (Pho Yen city). From 2009 to now, family members have donated a total of 23 times with a total blood volume of 7,850ml; the family of Mrs. Dinh Thi Thuy, Kieu Chinh hamlet, Xuan Phuong commune (Phu Binh) donated 20 times; the family of Mrs. Tran Thi Thu Hien, group 4, Gia Sang ward (Thai Nguyen city) donated 20 times. These are all families that were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee for their many contributions to the voluntary blood donation movement in the program "Thai Nguyen Red Journey, Thousand Red Hearts" recently organized.

In the armed forces, many officers and soldiers not only fulfill their role in protecting peaceful life, but also spread the act of donating blood to save lives.

Mr. Bui Quang Sang, a police officer of Huong Son town (Phu Binh) has volunteered to donate blood 26 times; Mr. Le Kim Nam, Deputy Chief of Thang Loi Ward Police (Song Cong City) has donated blood more than 10 times. Regardless of time or distance, the People's Police officers come with a ready and confident attitude: the blood they give is the hope that others will have more chances to live.

Inthe education and health sectors, many teachers, officials and civil servants also actively participate in and mobilize voluntary blood donation. They not only impart knowledge, but also spread the spirit of humanity to the community. Typical examples include teacher Nguyen Thi Phuong Dung, teacher at Nga My II Primary School (Phu Binh), who has donated blood 14 times; teacher Do Thi Minh Hue, teacher at Vo Tranh Primary School (Phu Luong), who is always enthusiastic in the campaigns; or Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tue, an official at the Phu Luong District Voluntary Addiction Treatment and Social Work Center, who has donated blood 20 times to save lives.

These telling figures demonstrate the effectiveness of the humanitarian blood donation movement in the province. In the past 5 years alone, Thai Nguyen has received more than 150,000 units of blood; in 2024 alone, it reached nearly 37,000 units, the highest level ever. The rate of blood donation in 2025 will increase to 2.35% (more than 5 times higher than in 2008).

Ms. Kieu Thi Thao, President of the Provincial Red Cross Society, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, shared: “The exemplary blood donors have contributed significantly to the treatment and saving of people. But more than that, they also inspire and educate the community, especially the younger generation, about compassion.”

In a busy life, those who quietly donate blood and save lives are truly beautiful flowers in everyday life. And they are silently writing beautiful stories of kindness, with blood, heart, and love for people they have never met.
