Sow the seeds of love

During the 80-year journey of building, fighting and growing up of the Vietnam People's Public Security Force (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), in addition to the task of protecting national security and maintaining social order and safety, officers and soldiers have always strived to build bridges of humanity and reach out to the community. In Can Tho City, this mark is clearly shown through social security activities carried out by three mass organizations: the Youth Union, the Women's Union and the City Public Security Union. These works and tasks contribute to spreading the ideal of "Serving the people" in the new era.

Light up the faith

The People's Public Security Youth Union is not only a shock force on the front line of protecting national security, but also an "extended arm" of the Party and the people in social security work. With the spirit of "Wherever there is a need, there are youth, wherever there is difficulty, there are youth", the Can Tho City Public Security Youth Union has been concretizing that role through a series of typical activities, such as the "Green March" campaign; meaningful projects and tasks; legal propaganda sessions for students; voluntary blood donation; medicine distribution, gift giving to families with preferential policies and the poor; awarding scholarships to students who have overcome difficulties to study well; building and repairing charity houses...

From 2020 to present, the City Police Youth Union has presented more than 50,000 gifts and scholarships to disadvantaged students, built and repaired 108 gratitude houses, distributed more than 16,000 medicine kits, voluntarily donated more than 5,200 units of blood, donated 400 bus tickets for workers to return home for Tet, organized the renovation of 33km of rural roads, installed 355 national flagpoles, planted about 53,000 trees, installed more than 3,200 lighting systems on traffic routes and other meaningful activities with a total value of more than 36 billion VND. These numbers are not only the results of actions, but also a measure of the belief of Can Tho City Police youth in the journey of sowing seeds of kindness in everyday life.

Courage on the front line - Kindness in everyday life

Talking about social security work in Can Tho City Police, we cannot fail to mention the Women's Department - where soldiers who are also mothers and sisters have been lighting the flames of love, enduring and touching through many meaningful activities and the "Godmother" Program is one of them.

Since October 2020, the City Police Women's Union has sponsored, supported, cared for, and raised 73 orphans, children in difficult circumstances, and victims of the COVID-19 pandemic in the city until they are 18 years old. Every month, members of the City Police Women's Union visit, support their study expenses, give them books, clothes, and take care of their mental health. It is this regular presence and love that has given them more motivation to overcome adversity.

In addition, the Women's Committee actively implemented the programs: "Spring of Love", "Bamboo Supermarket", "Moon of Love", "Accompanying the Aspiration to Rise Up" or gratitude activities, such as taking care of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, humanitarian addresses, supporting poverty reduction, donating 2 "Great Solidarity" houses, 3 "Warm Houses of Love"... with a total value of more than 36 billion VND.

In everyday life, female police officers of the city are not only “good at public affairs and good at family affairs”, but are also the ones who keep the fire of humanity burning within the police force, spreading kindness, and fostering the bond between the police and the people with kindness and a spirit of selfless dedication.

Where love becomes lasting value

Over the past time, the Can Tho City Police Union has always been a strong spiritual support for the force and a bridge of love in the community.

The City Police Trade Union has implemented many stable and long-term programs: supporting relatives and union members with serious illnesses and difficult circumstances; organizing many programs and models, such as "Happy Tet with union members' families", "Tet reunion", "Union meals", "Union adopted children". At the same time, coordinating the implementation of the "Zero-dong supermarket - Sharing love, accompanying union members and workers" series of activities during the COVID-19 pandemic; coordinating to give gifts to the poor, students overcoming difficulties and other meaningful social security activities.

In the past 10 years, the City Police Trade Union has provided emergency support to more than 4,900 union members and their relatives in difficult circumstances, when they are sick, have serious illnesses, and other activities with a total value of more than 2.7 billion VND; helping people in difficult circumstances, providing free medicine, building and repairing charity houses, visiting and giving gifts to families of people with meritorious services, supporting people affected by natural disasters... with a total amount of more than 4.2 billion VND. In addition, there is regular participation in voluntary blood donation campaigns, environmental sanitation activities, and improving the new rural landscape in suburban communes.

Not ostentatious but persistent, the social security activities of Can Tho City Police have sown trust, nurtured and aroused the spirit of solidarity between the police force and the people from the simplest things. Each project, each task, each gift is not only a material sharing, but also a dedicated and long-term commitment to the community, where the spirit of "Serving the people" is realized through dedication and sincere gestures.

In the context of the country's comprehensive renovation, entering a new era - the era of national development, social security work is not only the responsibility of the government but also a measure of the political mettle, moral qualities and humanity of the People's Public Security force. For the Public Security force, when the responsibility of maintaining peace is closely linked to sowing trust, the activities of caring for and accompanying the people become especially meaningful.
