World oil prices
As of 11:30 a.m. on June 25, 2025, Brent oil price increased sharply by 0.88% to 67.05 USD/barrel; WTI oil price increased by 0.32% to 64.93 USD/barrel.
Global oil markets are closely watching a ceasefire between Israel and Iran after days of escalating tensions. Despite US President Donald Trump criticizing both countries for quickly violating the agreement, direct attacks by both sides halted on Wednesday morning. Mr Trump said the ceasefire would become permanent if there was no new hostilities in the next 24 hours.
However, market concerns remain as there are conflicting reports about the actual effectiveness of the US-led airstrikes. Some intelligence sources say the strikes only slowed Iran’s nuclear program for a few months, but did not completely destroy its underground nuclear facilities. On the contrary, US officials maintain that the strikes significantly destroyed three key facilities using high-yield bunker-buster bombs.
Meanwhile, the oil market is receiving another supportive factor from the US. According to a report from the American Petroleum Institute (API), US commercial oil inventories fell sharply by nearly 4.3 million barrels last week, far exceeding the expected decrease of 600,000 barrels.
This is the second consecutive week of large declines, after a 10.1 million barrel draw last week, and the development reinforces the belief that fuel demand will increase in the summer, despite geopolitical pressures.
The oil market is currently swinging between two directions: on one side, the risk of instability in the Middle East has not completely ended, on the other side, the positive signal from the US fuel demand. Investors are waiting for more official data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) to have a clearer view of the short-term supply and demand trend.
Domestic gasoline prices
On June 25, domestic retail gasoline prices remained unchanged according to the previous adjustment, specifically as follows:
E5 RON 92 gasoline: 20,631 VND/liter
RON 95-III gasoline: 21,244 VND/liter
Diesel 0.05S: 19,156 VND/liter
Kerosene: 18,923 VND/liter
Mazut oil 180CST 3.5S: 17,643 VND/kg
This is the price level maintained after the most recent adjustment, in which all petroleum products increased sharply, with RON 95 gasoline increasing by VND1,277/liter and diesel increasing by VND1,456/liter. Notably, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade did not set aside or spend the Price Stabilization Fund during that period.
According to the latest update from the Singapore market (June 24), the prices of gasoline 92 and 95 have decreased by nearly 5 USD/barrel compared to the beginning of the week, to 80.7 USD/barrel and 82.5 USD/barrel, respectively. However, this decrease is not enough to immediately pull down domestic prices.
Key businesses believe that without intervention from the Price Stabilization Fund, gasoline prices on June 26 could increase by about 300 - 330 VND/liter, diesel by about 520 VND/liter, kerosene by 460 VND/liter, while fuel oil prices are likely to decrease slightly.
Some distributors in the North also predict that tomorrow's price adjustment will be the 5th consecutive price increase for RON 95 gasoline, in the context that the discount at the warehouse is still very low, only from 0 - 200 VND/liter.
