(NLDO) – The price of SJC gold bars suddenly skyrocketed on the afternoon of August 7 and then reached a historic peak of 124 million VND/tael.

At 3:00 p.m. on August 7, Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) suddenly changed its listed price list, raising the afternoon buying price of SJC gold bars to 122.7 million VND/tael and selling price to 124.1 million VND/tael, an increase of 300,000 VND per tael compared to the morning.

On the free market, some gold shops also pushed the price of SJC gold bars up to 123 million VND/tael for buying and 124 million VND/tael for selling.

Meanwhile, the price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry gold of all kinds continued to be stable at 116.8 million VND/tael for buying and 119.3 million VND/tael for selling. This is an unexpected development of the price of SJC gold bars.

SJC gold bar price hits new peak, not easy to buy

However, according to the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , the price of SJC gold bars increased following the increase in world prices, while transactions in the market were not too exciting or sudden.

The leader of a gold company in Ho Chi Minh City said that the supply of gold is very limited, no one is selling when the price of gold is high while those who want to buy have no gold to sell.

SJC gold bar price increased sharply this afternoon

An employee of a gold shop in the DOJI system in Ho Chi Minh City said that many customers asked to buy SJC gold bars and plain gold rings, but the shop did not have the resources to sell. "Only when customers come to sell SJC gold bars and gold rings, will the company have the resources to resell to other customers," the employee explained.

The price of SJC gold bars increased to reach the historical peak set in April 2025 in the context of the world price increasing at the end of the day. Currently, the price of gold today on the international market is traded at 3,396 USD/ounce, up 25 USD/ounce compared to the previous session. This is also the highest price of gold in the past 2 weeks.

Notably, the price of SJC gold bars reached a historical peak in the context that the world gold price is still far from the peak of 3,500 USD/ounce. This development caused the gap between domestic and world gold prices to widen.

Currently, the world gold price converted according to the listed exchange rate is about 108 million VND/tael, 16 million VND/tael lower than SJC gold bars.
