Potential market for Vietnamese goods

The Nordic countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland, are known not only for their strong economies , but also for their high demands on product quality and their priority for social and environmental values.

Although not large in scale, the Northern European market is still considered to have great potential for Vietnamese goods, especially goods with high standards and quality. In the first 6 months of 2025, imports of goods from some countries in the region increased, proving that consumer demand in this market is maintaining stability.

Of which, imports of some key export items of Vietnam have had quite good growth such as: Cameras, camcorders and components reached over 4.2 million USD, up 158.2% over the same period; cashew nuts reached over 4.5 million USD, up 40.5%; handbags, wallets, suitcases, hats, umbrellas reached over 5.3 million USD, up 76.8%; seafood reached over 6.6 million USD, up 28.8%; textiles reached over 6.4 million USD, up 18.9%...

According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Sweden, which is also in charge of the Nordic market, consumer trends in the Nordic region are changing rapidly, focusing on sustainability, environmental protection and responsible production.

Nordic consumers are already concerned about the environment, and this has become even more important since the pandemic. Consumers tend to choose products that are produced through processes that ensure environmental standards, are sustainable and have the ability to reduce CO2 emissions during production. They appreciate manufacturers who are transparent about the production process and the environmental impact of their products.

A key driver of Nordic consumer trends is the push for a circular economy. EU policies, including the Circular Economy Action Plan, aim to make sustainable products the norm. Under the plan, Nordic products must be designed to be reusable, recyclable, or to minimize waste. Packaging must also meet strict standards, with the goal of all packaging being reusable or recyclable by 2030.

Consumption of clean and organic food is becoming a mainstream trend in Nordic countries, where health and quality of life are top priorities. Consumers are increasingly interested in products with clear origins, free of toxic chemicals and not industrially processed.

This choice reflects not only a desire to consume healthy foods but also a way to show environmental awareness. Food manufacturers in Northern Europe are focusing on developing organic food product lines, which do not use chemicals and are produced according to sustainable agricultural standards.

In addition to their focus on green consumption, Nordic consumers are also notable for their preference for high-tech and innovative products. These countries have small populations but high incomes, and they are willing to pay more for modern, convenient, and high-value technology products. In particular, consumer electronics, smart home appliances, and clean energy solutions are popular and sought-after items.

Actively participate in major trade promotion events

Northern Europe is a potential market, where many large branded businesses gather. To promote the export of goods to this market, according to experts, proactively participating in major trade promotion events is a good "path" to help Vietnamese goods participate and conquer this market.

It is known that from now until the end of the year, some countries in the Nordic region will organize a number of specialized fairs, which are very potential and suitable for Vietnam's strong industries.

Specifically, the Oslo Design Fair takes place from September 1-3, 2025, at Nova Specktrum, Norway. The Fair has the participation of many businesses around the world related to interior design, handicrafts, fine arts, and clothing. Within the framework of the Fair, there are events to share ideas, fashion trends, and new materials in design.

EURO EXPO Industrial Fair, taking place from 8-9 October 2025, at Sparebanken Møre Arena, Sjømannsvegen 16, 6008 Ålesund, Norway. The fair is an opportunity to meet leading suppliers for the industrial, manufacturing, processing industries, and share experiences with leading experts related to production management, machine operation and maintenance, electrical systems and construction.

The Norwegian Construction Fair takes place from 15-18 October 2025 Nova Spektrum, Norway. The fair is the largest meeting place for the construction industry in Norway with the participation of experts and businesses involved in all stages of construction from planning to construction and completion.

The Oslo Motor Show takes place from 24-26 October 2025 at Nova Spektrum. The exhibition showcases automotive technology, materials and design.

In addition, the Life Sciences Exhibition will take place from October 13-14, 2025, at the Exhibition and Convention Center, Gothenburg, Sweden. The exhibition will introduce artificial intelligence technologies and innovations applied in disease treatment and public health care.

The Water Industry Fair takes place from 21-23 October 2025, at the Exhibition and Convention Center, Gothenburg, Sweden. The exhibition introduces technologies for treating domestic water and wastewater.

In addition to actively participating in specialized fairs and exhibitions in Northern Europe to increase market access opportunities, so that Vietnamese goods can participate more deeply in the distribution and supply chain, businesses are recommended to seek market information from official sources such as the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Trade Office in Northern Europe.

At the same time, carefully research the market, new trade policies, especially regulations and standards related to green and sustainable growth, which are very strictly regulated in the EU. From there, orient products appropriately, importantly meeting the needs of consumers.
