Pepper price today August 6 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on August 5 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,108 per tonne. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,937 per tonne.

Pepper exports have brought in nearly 1 billion USD after 7 months, forecast to increase 'hotly' at the end of the year

Vietnam's pepper exports in July 2025 are estimated to reach about 22,000 tons, earning 143 million USD. Compared to the previous month, output decreased by 5.8% and turnover decreased by 9.4%. However, compared to the same period in 2024, export volume increased by 1% and value increased by 10.4%.

In the first 7 months of the year, Vietnam exported a total of 145,000 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of nearly 991 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, the export volume decreased by 11.6%, but the value increased sharply by nearly 30%. The growth in turnover was mainly due to the average export price in the 7 months being nearly 47% higher than the previous year, reaching 6,823 USD/ton.

In July alone, pepper export prices reached 6,502 USD/ton. Although down 3.8% compared to June, they were still 9.2% higher than the same period last year. This shows that pepper prices have remained stable at a high level in the context of many fluctuations.

In the domestic market, pepper prices fluctuated continuously in the second quarter, reflecting the market's sensitivity to factors such as tax policies and the wait-and-see mentality of businesses. In particular, when information about the US imposing import tariffs on Vietnamese pepper spread, many businesses that had completed orders began to limit further purchases, causing domestic demand to weaken significantly.

In addition, from July 1, the revised Law on Value Added Tax (VAT) officially took effect but there were no specific instructions. This made many businesses confused in declaring and transacting, leading to hesitation and temporary suspension of purchases.

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Lien, President of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), the pepper market will have a chance to recover in the second half of this year thanks to the demand for stockpiling goods in major markets such as the US. This is considered an important factor helping pepper prices increase in the coming time.

Many experts also agree that the market is gradually recovering, with positive signs of consumption demand returning. The prospect of pepper exports in the second half of 2025 is assessed to be more positive than in the first half of the year.

The US market is expected to see a sharp increase in pepper import orders in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, in preparation for the peak consumption season. This is a positive signal, opening up opportunities for a clearer recovery for the pepper industry in the coming time.
