Pepper price today in world market
Today's pepper prices in the world market updated by the International Pepper Community (IPC) show mixed market fluctuations. Specifically as follows:
Indonesia's Lampung black pepper price is currently at 7,109 USD/ton, up 0.07%; Muntok white pepper price is recorded at 9,937 USD/ton, up 0.07%.
In the Brazilian market, the purchase price of black pepper ASTA 570 was at 6,000 USD/ton, up 1.67%.
In Malaysia, ASTA black pepper price is still at 8,900 USD/ton; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 11,750 USD/ton.
In Vietnam, the price of 500 g/l black pepper is currently at 6,140 USD/ton and 550 g/l is currently at 6,270 USD/ton; the price of white pepper is currently at 8,850 USD/ton.
The world pepper market on July 30 recorded a simultaneous price decrease in India, Indonesia and Vietnam. The period of strong price increases has slowed down, making suppliers and importers more cautious.
Pepper prices have fallen for several reasons. First, supply has increased significantly as Indonesia enters its main harvest season, making pepper more abundant in the market. This gives importers more options and puts downward pressure on prices of other exporting countries.
Second, demand in major markets such as the US, EU and China is showing signs of slowing down after a period of strong imports at the beginning of the year. Many businesses are temporarily suspending purchases in anticipation of further price drops, reducing global trading volumes.
Third, after a long period of rising prices, many countries have begun to take profits and sell large quantities of pepper they have stored, causing supply to increase faster than demand. In addition, high international shipping costs have also reduced profits, forcing exporters to adjust their selling prices to maintain orders.
Pepper prices are currently being hit by a double whammy of oversupply and weak demand. However, experts say the price drop is only short-term. In the long term, prices remain positive thanks to reduced cultivation areas, reduced output and low inventories.
