World steel prices
Rebar on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) for December 2025 delivery fell 14 yuan to 2,980 yuan/t.
Iron ore futures snapped a three-day rally amid prospects of strong supply from top producer Australia, but strong steel demand in China capped the decline.
The most-traded September iron ore contract on China's Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) fell 0.42 percent to 703 yuan ($97.97) a tonne.
Benchmark iron ore for July delivery (SZZFN5) on the Singapore Exchange fell 0.71% to $93.2 a tonne.
Rio Tinto, the world's largest iron ore producer, is entering into a joint venture with Hancock Prospecting to develop the Hope Downs 2 project in Western Australia.
Rio said in a statement that the two iron ore mines would have a combined annual production capacity of 31 million tonnes.
Meanwhile, iron ore shipments from Australia and Brazil rose 8.8% week-on-week in the June 16-22 period, the highest since June 2024, according to Chinese consultancy Mysteel.
Hot metal output, a gauge of iron ore demand, rose 0.24% to 2.422 million tonnes from the previous week as of June 20, data from Mysteel showed.
“Volumes have remained at around 2.4 million tonnes since April, showing the resilience of the world’s largest steel market,” ANZ analysts said.
However, the steel market is pricing in expectations of weaker seasonal demand, Hexun Futures said.
Other steelmaking components on the DCE fell, with coking coal and coke (DCJcv1) down 1.94% and 2.03%, respectively.
Steel benchmarks on the Shanghai Futures Exchange fell. Rebar and hot-rolled coil fell about 0.5%, wire rod (SWRcv1) fell 0.9% and stainless steel fell 0.28%.

In the Central region, Hoa Phat CB240 rolled steel is priced at 13,530 VND/kg; D10 CB300 ribbed steel is priced at 13,530 VND/kg.
