Coffee prices continue to move sideways
On the London floor at 5:00 a.m. on July 22, 2025, Robusta coffee prices suddenly dropped sharply, with a recorded decrease of 146 - 161 USD/ton, trading in the range of 3,100 - 3,348 USD/ton. The specific prices are as follows: September 2025 is 3,187 USD/ton, November 2025 is 3,164 USD/ton, January 2026 is 3,141 USD/ton, March 2026 is 3,121 USD/ton and May 2026 is 3,100 USD/ton.
In New York, the price of Arabica coffee in the morning session of July 22 also dropped sharply compared to the previous flat session, decreasing from 9.75 - 11.65 cents/lb, with the price range fluctuating from 271.85 - 304.55 cents/lb. Specifically, the futures price for September 2025 reached 291.95 cents/lb, December 2025 was 284.90 cents/lb, March 2026 was 278.40 cents/lb, and May 2026 was 273.25 cents/lb.
Meanwhile, Brazilian Arabica coffee recorded a fluctuating trend according to the term, fluctuating between 358.25 - 430.00 USD/ton. The prices for each term are: July 2025 at 430.00 USD/ton, September 2025 at 355.65 USD/ton, December 2025 at 345.00 USD/ton and March 2026 at 358.25 USD/ton.
At 5:00 a.m. this morning, July 22, 2025, the domestic coffee market had no change compared to the previous increase, continuing to maintain a stable trend. The coffee purchase price in key localities is still at an average of 93,700 VND/kg.
Specifically, coffee prices in Lam Dong province are being bought by traders at 94,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.
In Dak Lak province, the coffee transaction price remained stable at 93,800 VND/kg, with no recorded changes.
Coffee prices in Gia Lai province remain stable at VND93,800/kg, similar to the previous trading session.
In Ward 1, Bao Loc, Hoa Ninh, Duc Trong and Dinh Van Lam Ha of Lam Dong province, coffee prices remained stable at VND93,500/kg, with no change compared to yesterday.
In terms of export activities, in the first 15 days of July 2025, Vietnamese enterprises exported a total of 42,400 tons of green coffee, reaching a total turnover of 208 million USD. The average export price of Robusta coffee during this period reached 4,813 USD/ton, while Arabica was 6,473 USD/ton.
The above figures show that coffee exports have entered the final stage of the season, with both output and value decreasing significantly compared to previous months. This makes the coffee market even more unpredictable in the coming time.
Another factor affecting the market is the recent passing of a bill by the US House of Representatives regarding the legal framework for USD-linked cryptocurrencies (stablecoins). According to expert Nguyen Quang Binh, this could attract capital to the cryptocurrency market, thereby slowing down commodity trading activities.
Regarding this week’s trend, Mr. Binh commented: “Prices may increase slightly at the beginning of the week due to the effect of shipping goods from Brazil to the US. However, towards the end of the week, prices may weaken due to the impact of the strong USD and inventory pressure on the market.”
Pepper prices are stable
Data updated at 5:00 a.m. on July 22, 2025 showed that the domestic pepper market had no significant fluctuations compared to the previous weekend session. The average pepper price in key localities remained stable at VND 138,600/kg.
Specifically, in Gia Lai province, pepper prices remained stable after the previous decrease, being purchased at 137,000 VND/kg.
In Ho Chi Minh City, pepper prices also remained unchanged, with the current purchase price reaching 138,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices in Dong Nai province remain stable, currently trading at 138,000 VND/kg.
In Dak Lak province, pepper prices are currently unchanged, being purchased at 140,000 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong province, pepper prices also remained stable, with the purchase price at 140,000 VND/kg.
Information from the International Pepper Community (IPC) updated at 5:00 a.m. on July 22, 2025 said that the Indonesian pepper market is falling sharply at 82 - 86 USD/ton depending on the type; while the remaining countries mainly keep stable prices.
Specifically, the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper is currently listed at 7,134 USD/ton; while Muntok white pepper is being traded at 9,972 USD/ton.
In Malaysia, the pepper market continues to be stable, with ASTA black pepper prices at USD 8,900/ton, while ASTA white pepper reached USD 11,750/ton.
In the Brazilian market, pepper prices are currently stable at 5,800 USD/ton.
Vietnam's pepper exports also recorded an unchanged trend, with the price of 500 g/l black pepper currently at 6,440 USD/ton; 550 g/l at 6,570 USD/ton, while white pepper reached 9,150 USD/ton.
Although pepper prices have increased by nearly VND10,000/kg compared to June 2025, many people who have bought goods are still not assured because they have not recovered their capital. The wait-and-see mentality still prevails because the market is still risky and is considered a gamble.
Pepper exports are also facing many challenges. According to preliminary data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first half of July 2025, export output reached only 10,808 tons, with a turnover of 70.3 million USD. Compared to the first half of June, output decreased by 7.8% and value decreased by 11.1%.
A worrying sign is that the average export price in the first half of July was only 6,500 USD/ton, significantly lower than the average of 6,881 USD/ton in the first 6 months of 2025.
The main markets consuming Vietnamese pepper during this period included the US (1,472 tons), UAE (1,290 tons) and China (1,072 tons), showing that demand still exists but has shown signs of slowing down.
