Pepper and coffee prices both increased

On August 25, domestic pepper prices increased, maintaining a high level; world coffee prices increased sharply; meanwhile, rice prices decreased in some varieties.

Specifically: In Gia Lai and Dak Lak, the prices increased by 1,000 VND/kg, reaching 143,500 VND/kg and 146,000 VND/kg respectively. In Ba Ria - Vung Tau (Ho Chi Minh City) and Binh Phuoc (Dong Nai province), the price remained at 144,000 VND/kg. In Dak Nong (Lam Dong province), the price also remained at 146,000 VND/kg.


In the world market, according to data from the International Pepper Community (IPC), pepper prices have mixed developments. In Indonesia, black pepper decreased by 0.35% to 7,129 USD/ton, while white pepper also fell to 9,966 USD/ton. In contrast, Malaysian pepper remained high with black pepper at 9,600 USD/ton and white pepper at 12,800 USD/ton. The export price of Vietnamese pepper remained at 6,370 USD/ton for 550 g/l black pepper and 8,950 USD/ton for ASTA white pepper.

In Lam Dong, the price of raw coffee beans was purchased at 123,500 VND/kg. In Dak Lak , it remained at 124,000 VND/kg. In Gia Lai, the price of coffee was at 123,800 VND/kg, close to the average price of the whole region.

Traders said that although transactions were quite quiet due to limited supply at the end of the season, high prices were bringing positive sentiment to farmers.

World coffee prices, on the London floor, Robusta coffee futures contract for September 2025 delivery increased sharply by 2.27% (equivalent to 108 USD/ton), reaching 4,866 USD/ton. Previously, Robusta prices fluctuated in the range of 4,734 - 4,870 USD/ton.

On the New York floor, the price of Arabica coffee futures for September 2025 increased by 4.10% to 390.65 cents/lb, equivalent to an increase of 15.40 cents/lb compared to the previous session.

Specifically, IR 50404 rice (fresh) is trading around 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg. OM 5451 rice (fresh) fluctuates at 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg. OM 18 rice (fresh) is purchased at 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg. OM 380 rice (fresh) remains at 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg. Nang Hoa 9 maintains its price at 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Dai Thom 8 (fresh) is at 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg.

Unlike rice, raw rice and finished rice products today have a downward adjustment in some varieties.

The price of IR 504 raw rice fluctuates between VND 8,500 and VND 8,600 per kg; IR 504 finished rice is at VND 9,500 and VND 9,700 per kg. OM 5451 raw rice remains at VND 9,500 and VND 9,650 per kg, while OM 18 fluctuates between VND 9,600 and VND 9,700 per kg. OM 380 raw rice is at VND 8,200 and VND 8,300 per kg; OM 380 finished rice is from VND 8,800 to VND 9,000 per kg. Notably, CL 555 decreased by VND 100 to VND 8,300 and VND 8,350 per kg.

In the consumer rice segment, prices remained stable: Regular rice 13,000 - 14,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice 28,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice 16,000 - 17,000 VND/kg; Thai long grain fragrant rice 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice 22,000 VND/kg. Common white rice 16,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice 21,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice 16,000 - 17,000 VND/kg; Thai Soc rice 20,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice 20,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice 22,000 VND/kg.

By-products: OM 5451 fragrant rice bran is 7,400 - 7,500 VND/kg; bran is 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg.

In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices continued to remain stable on the morning of August 25. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken rice was offered at 399 USD/ton; 25% broken rice remained at 368 USD/ton; and 100% broken rice was at 339 USD/ton.
