* The price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions increased by 1,000 VND/kg in Quang Ngai province, currently at 53,000 VND/kg.

The remaining provinces did not record any new price changes compared to yesterday.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 51,000-53,000 VND/kg.

* In the Southern region, the price of live pigs increased by 1,000 VND/kg in some places.

Specifically, Binh Duong province increased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg to 51,000 VND/kg.

With the same increase, the price of live pigs in Kien Giang and Bac Lieu was raised to the same level of 53,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 50,000-54,000 VND/kg.

* According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in October 2023, the price of live pigs nationwide fluctuated downward.

According to experts, the main reason is still that African swine fever has not been well controlled. This has led to a situation where pigs sold due to the epidemic have fallen in price, while at times, some localities have a local shortage of live pigs, causing prices to increase sharply.

Overall, pork supply is still guaranteed for the year-end consumption season thanks to abundant output from large farms and businesses.

In the coming time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized that in order to stabilize the domestic meat production and consumption market, it is necessary to drastically implement many measures and policies at the same time to combat speculation and price manipulation, ensuring the rights of livestock farmers and consumers; prevent and control epidemics, effectively organize vaccination; monitor, detect and promptly handle newly emerging outbreaks; strictly handle cases of illegal buying, selling and transporting of pigs of unknown origin, increasing the risk of infection and spread of dangerous diseases in domestic pig herds.
