Domestic coffee prices today
Domestic coffee prices today, August 21, 2025, in the Central Highlands region increased sharply, fluctuating between 121,000 - 121,900 VND/kg.
Accordingly, traders in the old Dak Nong region are purchasing coffee at the highest price of 121,900 VND/kg. An increase of 4,600 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Similarly, coffee price in Dak Lak province is 121,700 VND/kg, an increase of 4,600 VND/kg compared to yesterday.
Coffee prices in Gia Lai province increased by VND4,500/kg compared to yesterday and were traded at VND121,500/kg.
In Lam Dong province, coffee prices increased by VND4,400/kg compared to yesterday and are at VND121,000/kg.

Domestic coffee prices today increased sharply, surpassing the threshold of 120,000 VND/kg. This price surprised many people because just a month ago, the price had dropped sharply to about 88,500 VND/kg.
According to Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), the main reason for this shocking increase is that the US imposed a 50% reciprocal tax on coffee imported from Brazil, which is the largest supplier to the US market. In addition, world coffee prices also increased sharply after the last trading session of the September 2025 term.
Expert Nguyen Quang Binh said that the increase in international coffee prices occurred in the context of the coffee market entering the time of closing business positions, close to the first delivery notice date (FND) for the September 2025 term. However, the supply from Brazil is limited due to the 50% tax rate, making exports to the US difficult.
With such high tariffs, Brazilian coffee will have difficulty competing in the US market. Importers are forced to look for alternative sources from countries with lower tariffs, and this is an opportunity for other producers.
World coffee prices today
On the London Stock Exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee futures for September 2025 delivery closed yesterday at $4,627/ton, up 4.92% ($217/ton) from yesterday. The November 2025 futures contract increased 3.21% ($137/ton), reaching $4,405/ton.
Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery increased by 1.85% (6.60 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 362.80 US cents/pound. The December 2025 futures contract increased by 2.02% (7.05 US cents/pound), to 356.10 US cents/pound.
The international coffee market is in a state of excitement as speculators increase their buying while certified inventories are falling sharply. Trade tensions between the US and Brazil are also contributing to tighter supplies, pushing up coffee prices.
ICE inventories hit record lows: arabica fell to just 726,661 bags, the lowest in more than a year – before inching up to 733,105 bags. Robusta stocks fell to just 6,907 lots. At the same time, the US imposed a 50% import tax on coffee from Brazil, forcing many roasters to look for alternative sources.
Hedge funds also expanded their net purchases, adding to the pressure on prices. Slowing Brazilian exports due to adverse weather, coupled with concerns that frost could impact the 2025-26 crop, added to the market’s tightness.
According to analysis, coffee prices will continue to rise sharply in the short term. If the US does not exempt Brazil from tariffs, the country's exports will decrease, opening up opportunities for supply from Vietnam and Colombia.
