No more worrying about exchanging money or losing control of spending when traveling abroad, now more and more people leave the airport with just their passport and phone thanks to the international payment feature.

Travel in the age of technology: Scan QR codes, spend freely

Having just returned from a trip to Thailand, Hoang Linh (28 years old, Hanoi) shared: "My entire trip was almost all spent on my phone, just need to scan the QR code through the TPBank App and it's done. Going to the night market, eating out, buying clothes all have QR codes, no need to exchange cash, and no fear of running out of money to spend."

Through cooperation with NAPAS and Thailand's national payment network PromptPay, TPBank has deployed the international QR payment feature on the TPBank App. Accordingly, TPBank App users can pay directly by scanning QR codes at points of sale in Thailand through the PromptPay system, without having to exchange foreign currency, without having to install any other applications and without hidden transaction fees.

In particular, TPBank App is also highly appreciated for clearly displaying the VND - foreign currency exchange rate at the time of transaction. There is no longer the situation of "coming back to Vietnam to find out that there is a high fee", or worrying about the exchange rate difference.

Another plus point when transacting via the TPBank App is that transaction history is updated instantly on the App, helping to better control spending throughout the journey. In particular, users do not need to worry about excess foreign currency after the trip, because all spending is done via the app, no need to exchange.

Two-way convenience: From Vietnamese people abroad to international tourists coming to Vietnam

The unique point in TPBank's strategy is that in parallel with supporting Vietnamese people to spend abroad, the bank also deploys an international universal QR system that allows foreign tourists to scan the code with their own domestic e-wallet to pay in Vietnam.

TPBank is currently one of the Vietnamese banks with the largest international QR payment network in the region, having expanded connections in Laos, Cambodia, China and is moving towards Korea. In addition to PromptPay (Thailand), TPBank has cooperated with KHQR (Cambodia), Lapnet (Laos) and UnionPay (China). From here, tourists and foreigners using KHQR or UnionPay payment applications when coming to Vietnam can scan the universal QR code at TPBank acceptance points to make payments, thanks to the compatibility of the cross-border QR payment system. This helps foreign tourists not need to exchange cash when coming to Vietnam, just need the International Universal QR code to receive payment immediately.

Mr. Nam - a specialty store owner in Da Nang - said: "This summer, the number of Thai and Chinese tourists is very large. Since using TPBank QR, customers only need to take out their phones, open their domestic wallets and scan. I receive VND with a very small fee, much more optimal than exchanging foreign currency."

According to TPBank, cross-border QR transactions from international customers via the TPBank App increased by nearly 300% in the first half of 2024. Mr. Dinh Van Chien - Deputy General Director of TPBank, and Director of Personal Banking - shared: "We do not want customers to worry every time they go abroad: How much cash to bring; where to exchange foreign currency; how to pay. With TPBank, tourists only need to enjoy an exciting travel journey, and the bank will accompany them in all spending matters. Our goal is to help customers feel freer, more secure and experience the most complete experience".

"TPBank - the bank of the future, created with today's intelligence"

At TPBank, technology is not just a tool, a DNA, but a "symphony" between user intuition and the power of AI, from the TPBank App - a personalized financial ecosystem with outstanding ChatPay, to LiveBank 24/7 - a bank branch that never sleeps to serve customers day and night, from virtual assistants that process transactions like a partner to smart systems that predict needs before you even type a command - All are built with a consistent philosophy "Banks are not only smart - but must inspire, Technology is not only optimized - but must understand people".

Today, TPBank is operating as a new generation bank, where human intelligence, real-time data and AI technology blend to create a highly personalized, self-learning and constantly adapting financial ecosystem, to pioneer in meeting customer needs.
