On July 8, speaking at the workshop "Authentication of origin traceability - The driving force for sustainable development of Vietnam's digital economy" organized by the National Data Center (Department C12, Ministry of Public Security ) in coordination with the National Data Association (NDA) in Hanoi, Colonel Pham Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the National Data Center (Ministry of Public Security) said that in the current period, when the digital economy is becoming one of the pillars of the country's development, the requirements for authenticity, transparency and traceability of goods not only serve state management but are also prerequisites for enhancing domestic market confidence and international integration.

In the first 5 months of 2025, authorities nationwide handled more than 40,000 cases of smuggling, counterfeiting, and poor quality goods with a total fine of up to 6,500 billion VND. Especially the situation of counterfeit goods in the food and pharmaceutical sectors, directly affecting the health and lives of people.

In the context of commercial fraud being a hot issue of the whole society, through traceability, consumers can quickly and transparently verify the origin of products, clearly distinguish fake, counterfeit and poor quality goods. On a large scale, with a traceability system based on domestic technology (blockchain, digital identification, multi-function QR...), Vietnam can control domestic data, limit dependence on foreign platforms and maintain data sovereignty .

As Vietnam promotes international trade and exports, proving the origin, quality, and production process of products through a traceability system will help international partners feel secure, while strengthening the capacity to monitor the domestic market, protecting the interests of consumers and legitimate businesses.

According to experts, traceability is the foundation for digital governance, digital policies and the development of an open data ecosystem, helping the Government formulate effective policies, support businesses to innovate and increase people's trust in domestic products. Traceability contributes to improving transparency, traceability and digital trust; these are essential factors for e-commerce, agricultural exports, smart logistics and modern supply chain management.

In particular, traceability helps provide accurate, continuous and multi-dimensional data from input to output, helping businesses manage risks, forecast production, coordinate logistics, and control quality better. This is also a tool to support comprehensive digital transformation in product production, distribution and consumption.

Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation has raised the issue of digital transformation for products and goods. The Resolution clearly states the need to promote the consumption of products and services in the digital environment, ensure the digital economy of industries and fields, and have policies to encourage businesses to invest in digital transformation... Implementing digital transformation means giving products and goods a new, more modern look, easier to connect, and most importantly, easier to verify, creating trust for consumers.

In the context of the whole country implementing digital transformation and digitalizing the economy, the application of technology for traceability is mandatory and must be a comprehensive policy from top to bottom, with synchronous management from the central to local levels and applied to all businesses. From identifying all organizations, businesses, products to authenticating information about goods, supply chain activities and performing traceability and product life cycle lookup.

Deploying modern traceability solutions, applying advanced technology, based on the unification and synchronization of national data platforms is an important solution to help improve management efficiency, ensure market safety and enhance transparency throughout the entire supply chain, thereby contributing to sustainable development, increasing the strength and competitiveness of Vietnam's digital economy.
