Mrs. Pham My Diep (born in 1968, village 9, Hiep Hoa commune, Quang Yen town) has a particularly difficult situation. Her husband passed away a long time ago, and she alone has to work hard to earn a living to take care of and raise her two deaf and mute, mentally ill sons, and two orphaned grandchildren, living in a seriously degraded old house.
Sympathizing with the family's difficult situation, at the end of 2024, the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Quang Yen Town coordinated with Yen Tri Parish to mobilize benefactors to contribute funds to build a house for Ms. Diep's family, with an area of 50 square meters and a value of nearly 150 million VND.
Mrs. Diep emotionally shared: "Having a new, solid house to live in, without having to worry about storms and rains, my family of five is very excited and happy. I am very grateful to the Catholic Solidarity Committee of the town and the Parish for caring for and helping my family. This house will be the motivation for me to work with peace of mind and escape poverty."
At the Medical Centers of Tien Yen and Dam Ha districts, from 2020 to now, every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., poor patients and patients in difficult circumstances receive a free portion of nutritious porridge, helping them gain more strength and confidence to overcome their illness.
Ms. Nguyen Van Khanh (Bac Ai Group, Tien Yen Parish) shared: Our service target is the sick. Therefore, the food must be fresh and nutritious. At around 5 am, I go to the market to choose and buy food, bring it home to clean and prepare. At 8 am, the group of 3 people starts cooking porridge at the District Medical Center. Each session, we ensure that 100 servings of porridge are delivered to the sick and their families. All costs are contributed by the Parish and benefactors.
Mr. Chiu Van Chan (Na Hac village, Ha Lau commune, Tien Yen district) is being treated at the Department of Internal Medicine (District Medical Center), said: "I have had cardiovascular disease for many years now, and often have to go to the treatment center. Thanks to the delicious, nutritious charity porridge, it has helped me reduce some of the difficulties during my treatment."
