During the flood discharge process, localities in the region closely monitored and promptly handled arising incidents, ensuring the safety of the dike system of the production sub-region. The Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province announced that, up to now, localities in the Long Xuyen Quadrangle still have about 91.7 hectares of rice and crops that have not been harvested. In addition, farmers have planted 198,673 hectares/261,500 hectares of rice for the 2025 autumn-winter crop.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological and Hydrological Station of An Giang province, the impact of the flood upstream of the Mekong River will be great. In the first week of September 2025, in the upstream area of the Mekong River in Tan Chau, Khanh An and Chau Doc, the water level on rivers, canals and streams rose rapidly. Water levels measured at upstream stations on September 11: on the Tien River in Tan Chau, the flood level reached 3.34m, nearly 1m higher than the same period in 2024; on the Hau River in Chau Doc, the flood level reached 2.96m, 0.6m higher than the same period in 2024. At the Tha La and Tra Su sluices in the upstream area, the water level measured on September 11 reached 2.36m and 2.45m, 1.58m to 1.67m higher than the downstream.
In the coming days, the highest water level in the Mekong River upstream, downstream area, and the Long Xuyen Quadrangle inland area will be about 0.65-1.1m higher than the same period in 2024, approximately equal to and 10-35cm lower than the average of the same period in many years.
