International partners and friends affirm solidarity and support for Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th National Day

(laichau.gov.vn) On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the leaders of Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of the Philippines, the Kingdom of Thailand, the Republic of Singapore, the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste, the Republic of Korea, the United States of America, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, the Republic of France and the Secretary General of ASEAN sent congratulatory telegrams, letters and messages to the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam.

ASEAN recognizes Vietnam's important role and contributions

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim sent congratulatory letters to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh; Malaysian King Al-Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong.

In the congratulatory letter, the Malaysian senior leader expressed his delight at the fact that Vietnam and Malaysia have upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024, a historic milestone in the bilateral relationship and opening up opportunities for deeper cooperation in both traditional and emerging areas; expressed his respect and appreciation for Vietnam's coordination in supporting Malaysia in its capacity as ASEAN Chair 2025; and affirmed his desire to work closely with the Vietnamese senior leader so that the bilateral relationship between the two countries can achieve more substantive results, for the people of the two countries and for peace, cooperation and development in the region.

Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah sent congratulatory messages to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong and Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

The Sultan affirmed that Brunei Darussalam always attaches importance to the Comprehensive Partnership with Vietnam, highly appreciates the implementation of the Action Plan for the period 2023-2027 which has brought about practical results, contributing to the development and prosperity of the two countries, and wishes to further promote friendship and cooperation during the upcoming State visit to Vietnam.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto sent congratulatory letters to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong and Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

In the letter, President Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia and Vietnam have built a strong and continuous relationship over the past 7 decades. The two countries have upgraded their bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and will continue to work closely to promote common cooperation, not only for the benefit of the two countries but also making important contributions to peace, stability and prosperity in the Southeast Asian region.

President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sent congratulatory letters to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh; President of the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines Francis Escudero, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of the Philippines Martin Romualdez sent congratulatory letters to President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man.

In their congratulatory messages, the Philippine leaders expressed their admiration for the Vietnamese people’s spirit of solidarity and indomitability, saying that it is a source of inspiration for many countries, including the Philippines; and highly appreciated Vietnam’s journey of international integration and rapid economic development. The Philippine leaders reaffirmed the long-standing ties between the people of the Philippines and Vietnam, and expressed their desire to strengthen bilateral relations and expand the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn of the Kingdom of Thailand sent a congratulatory message to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong, and Acting Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Phumtham Wechayachai sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

The Thai leaders highly appreciated the resilience and solidarity of the Vietnamese people in the cause of national development; expressed their joy when the two countries upgraded their relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; affirmed their desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of trade, investment, infrastructure, education and culture, for the great interests of the two countries and peoples, and for the development of the ASEAN Community.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, Secretary-General of the People's Action Party of Singapore (PAP) Lawrence Wong sent congratulatory letters to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh; President of the Republic of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam sent congratulatory letters to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong; Speaker of the National Assembly of Singapore Seah Kian Peng sent congratulatory letters to Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man.

In the letter, the Singaporean leader highly appreciated the friendship, political trust and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, affirming that the newly established Vietnam - Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will create a solid foundation for stronger and more substantial development of bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of the new era such as food security, renewable energy, carbon credits, digital cooperation and people-to-people exchange; hoping that the two sides will further increase contacts and delegation exchanges at all levels and channels, and closely coordinate in both bilateral and multilateral cooperation for peace, stability and common prosperity of the region.

President of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste José Ramos-Horta sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong.

In the letter, the President highly appreciated the historical significance of the August Revolution, which inspired people around the world in the fight to protect freedom and national sovereignty, and highly appreciated the good friendship between the two countries, affirming his desire to continue to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the context of Timor-Leste actively preparing to join ASEAN.

ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn sent a congratulatory letter to Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

In the letter, the ASEAN Secretary General highlighted Vietnam's important contributions in 30 years of joining ASEAN, contributing to strengthening solidarity, ASEAN's central role, promoting the process of building the ASEAN Community and regional integration, including practical initiatives on sub-regional development and narrowing the development gap within ASEAN. The Secretary General emphasized that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Vietnam has always been consistently committed to and played a key role in promoting ASEAN cooperation in all three pillars of the Community.

The Secretary-General also highlighted the role of ASEAN Chair 2020 and the success and significance of the ASEAN Future Forum for ASEAN's efforts to shape its strategy; affirming continued support for Vietnam and member countries in the implementation of "ASEAN 2045: Our Common Future".

The friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and international friends is constantly developing.

President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung sent a congratulatory message to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong.

In the message, President Lee Jae Myung expressed his belief that on the basis of firm trust and deep affection between the people of the two countries, the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to develop even more strongly to a new level in the coming time.

On behalf of the US Government, Secretary of State Marco Rubio sent a message with the most sincere and warmest wishes to the Government and people of Vietnam. In the message, Secretary Rubio highly appreciated Vietnam's impressive development, affirming that Vietnam is an important partner in the region, increasingly playing a leading role in addressing common global challenges. In the context that 2025 is also the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States, Secretary Rubio expressed pride in the progress achieved within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, while reaffirming the commitment to strengthening the relationship to promote peace, prosperity and security for the people of the two countries as well as in the region.

Chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Prime Minister of Japan Ishiba Shigeru sent congratulatory letters to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh; Emperor of Japan Naruhito sent a congratulatory message to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong; Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan Nukaga Fukushiro and President of the House of Councilors of Japan Sekiguchi Masakazu sent congratulatory letters to Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man.

In their congratulatory letters and messages, the leaders of the ruling party, the government and the Japanese parliament expressed their deep respect for the dedicated contributions of Vietnamese leaders to the cause of national construction and development, and welcomed Vietnam's reform towards a new era. The Japanese leaders were delighted with the positive development of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in many fields, becoming two irreplaceable partners; and wished to further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, national defense and security, parliamentary cooperation, people-to-people exchange, etc.

On this occasion, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Japan sent a congratulatory message to the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Governor-General of New Zealand Cindy Kiro sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong, Prime Minister of New Zealand Christopher Luxon sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh; Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament Gerry Brownlee sent a congratulatory letter to Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man.

In their congratulatory messages, New Zealand leaders highlighted the milestone of September 2 this year as a testament to Vietnam’s impressive development journey over the past eight decades. Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in economic development and social progress continue to inspire the international community.

The New Zealand leaders said 2025 also holds special significance for the Vietnam-New Zealand bilateral relationship as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The New Zealand leaders expressed confidence that the Vietnam-New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to grow on the basis of strong friendship, mutual respect and a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Governor-General of Australia Samantha Mostyn has sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong.

In the letter, the Governor-General of Australia emphasized that this is “a milestone marking eight decades of nation building, socio-economic development, with the spirit of outstanding innovation and the resilience of the Vietnamese people”; affirmed that Australia and Vietnam are sustainable partners, the relationship between the two countries is built on a foundation of strategic trust; the two sides are continuing to realize the vision and commitment within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, in which people-to-people exchange is a particularly important foundation of the bilateral relationship. The Governor-General expressed his wish to soon visit and witness the development of Vietnam in recent times.

On this occasion, the Communist Party of Australia sent a congratulatory message to the Communist Party of Vietnam.

President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron sent congratulatory letters to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong; Prime Minister of the French Republic François Bayrou sent a congratulatory letter to Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

In the letter, the French leaders emphasized that the two countries' upgrading of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the visit to France by General Secretary and President To Lam in October 2024 has created a new momentum for bilateral relations; stating that on the basis of established trust, the two countries will build an ambitious partnership between Vietnam and France, as well as with EU and ASEAN partners. The French leaders reiterated the two countries' shared commitment to respecting international law, the peaceful settlement of disputes and multilateralism; reaffirmed their commitment to continue promoting close relations with Vietnam, while striving to build "an independent alliance" between Europe and Asia with the EU and ASEAN at the core.

On this occasion, National Secretary of the French Communist Party Fabien Roussel sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam.
