Malaysia's New Straits Times wrote: "Allegations that FIFA is about to ban Malaysian football from Justinus Lhaksana have caused a stir on social media."

“The allegations come at a time when the Malaysian national team is actively recruiting foreign talent. This is a controversial issue,” the New Straits Times added.

Previously, Indonesian football expert Justinus Lhaksana said on a YouTube channel of the archipelago country that Malaysian football would soon be banned by FIFA until 2027.

This football expert said: “In the short term, the Malaysian U23 team will still be able to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, because this tournament is outside the FIFA competition system. However, after the Southeast Asian U23 tournament, Malaysian football will be banned by FIFA until 2027.”

“The reason for the FIFA ban is that the Malaysian team used many naturalized players of unknown origin. They circumvented the rules in the match against the Vietnamese team on June 10, in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers,” added Justinus Lhaksana.

Responding to Mr. Justinus Lhaksana's statement, the New Straits Times said: "The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has dispelled all speculations regarding the controversy surrounding the issue of naturalized Malaysian players."

“As for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), through its Secretary General (FAM) Datuk Noor Azman Rahman, it also denied any wrongdoing related to the issue of player naturalization.

Datuk Noor Azman Rahman stressed that FAM has fully complied with international guidelines in the matter of naturalization. At the same time, FAM has not received any notice from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and AFC,” the leading English daily in Malaysia wrote.

According to information from the New Straits Times, the Timesport media channel has contacted FAM for further comments regarding the accusation that Malaysian football will be banned by FIFA. However, FAM has not made any further statements.

The group of players accused of not being eligible for Malaysian citizenship include Facundo Garces, Imanol Machuca, Jon Irazabal, Joao Figueiredo and Rodrigo Holgado. The above players played an important role when the Malaysian team defeated the Vietnamese team 4-0 on June 10, at Bukit Jalil Stadium (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).
